I'm not going to describe myself and make you evaluate what is better for me. I'd just like to know what the difference between serving in each branch is.

DON'T base your decision on others. The only person who can decide for you is you, otherwise if you join and decide it was a mistake you may try to blame others for the choice you made. Serving in each branch is going to be different from one person to the next. Hell maybe neither one is a good choice for you because the air force, marines or coast guard is where you would be happiest. This is something you should decide on your own.

in the navy you can be land or ship based, in the army just land based. If you don't like ships or water go army.
I was in the navy and loved it. What you should do is talk with both recruiters. Bring your school records with you, and have an idea what you want to do / be. If your grades are good enough, maybe officer training or other schools are available. Once both have given you their best deal make your own mind up..

Why not, not join. Go to college or learn a trade. Make some money, meet a nice woman, travel a bit when you get a chance. The current regime will only use you as little more than fodder--and the things you'll need to do in order to win the king's coin will change you in ways that will stay with you for the rest of your life coloring you ability to find happiness. Good luck.

Army: you will work for a bunch of martinets doing many ridiculous things which seem to have little to do with the mission. You will often be cold or hot and sleep in primitive conditions. If you are killed you will probaly be dirty and not have a hot meal in your stomach when it happens. Officers send the enlisted out to fight and die. The uniforms aren't much to look at. Technical schools are so-so.

Navy: you will work for a bunch of martinets doing a few ridiculous things which seem to have little to do with the mission. You will most likely sleep in a bed almost every night. Your workspace will likely be climate controlled to a certain degree. If you are killed, you will probably have a hot meal in your stomach and have slept between sheets in the previous 24 hours. Officers and enlisted go to gether to fight and die. The uniforms look cool. Techincal schools are excellent.

USAF: you will work for a bunch of bureaucrats doing a few ridiculous things which seem to have little to do with the mission. You will most likely sleep in a bed almost every night. Your job will be similar to a 9-5 civilian job if not in a combat theater. If you are killed, you will probably have a hot meal in your stomach and have slept between sheets in the previous 24 hours. Enlisted wave at the officers as they go off to fight and die. The uniforms are crap. Technical schools are good.

Marines: See Army, except your primary MOS will always be "Rifleman." When in combat, you will probably have better people with you than in the army to help you live through it.

Problem being, unless we do know about you, we can only express our personal feelings on what we would do! I didn't want to be on the ocean and away from my family for 6 months at a whack. I joined the Army!

I didn't want to sail the seas either. I joined the Army and stayed in for a full 20 year span.

I preferred the open skies.

In short the Army is our land based combat force, and the Navy is are seafaring combat force.

why do you even want to join them in the first place? its bad pay and your killing other people. does it not seem wrong to you? our cultures may be very different but, as humans, we still have a soul and we still think along the same pattern. but if you dont care about any of that then it depends on what kind of technology your into. the navy is pretty advanced and so is the army but i would rather be on a nice cool ship rather then in a hot desert with sand down my crack.
