The Center for Disease Control did a study of fatal dog bites and found that boys under the age of 12 are most likely to be bitten in the total population, by a large margin. This was most often caused by young boys playing roughly or provoking a dog. Parents worry about their kids crossing the street without looking and they should worry about how their child might act around a dog. The parents have a responsibility here too.
The circumstances matter in deciding how to handle the dog in the future, but the occurrence is tragedy no matter how it occurs. If the child provoked the dog while the dog was on its owner's property, I agree with the judge's decision. That said, I live in a neighborhood full of kids, that sometimes they come uninvited onto our property ( we have a creek that cannot be fenced on part of it). For that reason, I picked a very child tolerant breed (golden retrievers) and trained them like crazy and socialized them heavily to children. There's no guarantees, but I feel like I've done everything I can to avoid a tragedy. Even if the owner is not responsible here, I'd do everything in power to make sure the opportunity for another attack is minimized in the future.

there is not any longer something you're able to do. The dogs won't be able to be made obtainable for adoption to the widespread public. This dogs probable would desire to be euthanized-its bitten a human. Thats a surprisingly a techniques-got rid of habit for a pit bull. the region would not sound like a maul or an attack in any respect-the very comparable form of ingredient ought to and might ensue with any breed of dogs-you will desire to no longer be stupid adequate to enable a 22 month previous circulate slowly on magnificent of a dogs at the same time as its ingesting a bone. there are 1000's of completely remarkable animals euthanized daily with the aid of fact no person needs them. It would not make lots sense to attempt and shop one that bites. as a effect, the dogs vendors/mothers and dads are a hundred% responsible for the chew.

Depending on the circumstances.....Blame rests on the Child for tormenting the dog, The Owner of the dog asking why it was not restrained, The Childs Parents for not teaching the child to respect animals.
I knew of a German Short Haired Pointer that my neighbors owned (she was a couple bricks short of a load) No one could make eye contact with this dog and if you did she would lung and get your face... if you let her..... Well, a 3 yr old playing on the floor close to her one day made eye contact with the dog and put 35 stitches in this poor childs face..... Parents and Owner were in the house with the dog and child... now is this dogs fault or parents or owners????
I blame the parent for letting a child play at dogs level, owner for not putting dog outside when child was in house... Can't blame child for this being only 3 yrs old not knowing any better to just look at a dog..
Long story short Owner got rid of dog shortly after the child was bit... No more dog!!!!

well this is a sad example, of the wrong dog in the wrong hands of the wrong people. People who dont train the dog, nor train the child. Not that I want anything to get hurt, mauled or die. It in the end is the person who BOUGHT that dog and didnt train the dog or supervise the childs fault and the dog shouldnt be punished but who is going to take a dog thats allowed to already maul? Its a no win situation and a very very sad one.

Its the kid's fault and parents fault for not telling the kid to be nice to the dog also unsupervised . If you hit or kick a dog , Theres a 100 percent chance that the dog is either going to go after you or attack . No dog just attacks somebody for no reason whatsoever .. Parents need to teach their kids how to be responsible around a dog that isnt yours and how you should treat the animal with respect of its property . I would never in the right mind would just start kicking and hitting dog especially if you dont even know the dog .

yeah. When I was a kid, our pet Dalmatian was put down because she bit a 8 year old kid. The Kid took the dog's bone from it, and when the dog growled at the kid, the Kid Attacked the dog with a Large Metal Toy Truck. The dog Defended itself (bit the kid ONE time), and the kids parents forced my parents to have the dog killed or be sued. Nobody seemed to care that the kid provoked and attacked the dog. Now that's really fair!!! That dog Never hurt anyone before it was attacked by that little monster!!! The Dog was In it's Own Yard, Minding Its Own Business, and the kid was Told Repeatedly to leave the dog alone. A perfect example of Piss Poor Parenting to raise a Spastic little Tweaker like that! Children who enjoy torturing and abusing animals are showing the first tell-tale signs of anti-social behavior. This is how Sociopaths and Psychopaths start their their sick careers. They enjoy abusing anything that seems defenseless. First animals, and then women and children, and anyone else that gets in their way. Blame the dog? That's taking the easy way out!!!!

Kids are freakin' annoying! I work at a pet store and we had one kid that would walk up to any dog and start giving it treats then trying to take the treat away... The mom kept getting mad and yelling to make the kid stop. I was almost hoping a dog would bite him so he'd learn a lesson. The other customers even told the kid not to feed their dog but he'd ignore them and try anyways. Brat.
Parents need to control their kids better. I'm suprised more things like this don't happen... Poor dogs. If a child provokes a dog enough, they'll learn the hard way.

The childs parent for not watching the child 24/7 or in the case that a dog is free to roam & attack then the dogs owner.

I have heard of it happening.. I haven't talked to anyone personally who has had it happen to them. Dogs and kids should never be left unsupervised together, no matter how well they seem to get along. Kids can be mean and if they are not taught to respect animals properly, this type of thing can happen. This is the exact reason why I do not allow my dogs to be around kids when I can't watch them constantly. Even tho I trust my dogs, I don't trust kids, and I am not going to risk my dog's lives because I wasn't able to pay attention and something happened.

Poor dog Im glad the doberman is still alive!
One time I was watching fireworks and my dog was with me and this stupid kid was playing with a ball and threw it at my dog who is a rottie mix. I got so mad that the parents didn't didn't tell their kid not too.
My rottie mix didn't bite but she could of. I hate kids who provoke sweet animals.
