I hear and read it all the time: evolution is just a theory. Electricity is just a theory, too, but I can tell you, even Jesus isn't going to keep you from being thrown across the room if you stick a wet finger in a light socket.
The earth is 4 1/2 billion years old. What's wrong with that? If it's 4 1/2 billion years old it's 4 1/2 billion years old. No big deal.
The same with the universe being 14 billion years old.
What's wrong with the big bang theory? If that's how this particular version of the universe began, that's how it began. String theory projects that the big bang is not a unique event, either.

Not one of these things says, "And therefore Jesus isn't the son of god" or anything like that. You want intelligent design? Why all of these things are way more intelligent than god blowing and poof! there's the universe. Dang. What is so frightening about science? Why are those goofy religions from the desert so unable to adjust to new information. Are they THAT weak?

people make religion part of themselves. Science threatens religion, so therefore religious people hate science b/c it's threatening themselves personally.

Evolution is actually both a fact and a theory....as you probably well know. The fact is that it happened. The theory is how and why it happened. The only reason the theory isn't in "scientific law" is b/c we cant go back in time. But the evidence that support the theory portion of evolution cannot be denied. You'd have to be a pure idiot to reject it.

Butler: how does the earth know? You're a retard....you religious people try to act like everything has a mind of its own. Why don't you go ask these questions in the science area and you'll get some answers. better yet, DO SOME RESEARCH.

It has taken a long time, I suppose, but religions which seek the truth are not afraid of scientific truth nor do those religions try to ignore it. Truth, after all, is truth; and truth in one area of knowledge will not conflict with truth in another area of knowledge. Presuming that it is true that the earth is 4-1/2 billion years old and presuming that the teaching of Genesis is true, they must be able to coincide. While the Book of Genesis and, perhaps, all of the Bible had been literally interpreted at one time, most real scholars today have ruled out such literalism in the Creation Narratives. Genesis teaches that God made all things and all things are good, and that teaching is presented in a fanciful story that reflects the author's understanding of the world he knew. If the truth of Genesis is that God made all things and the truth of science is that the earth is billions of years old, there is no conflict. God created whatever was the source of the Big Bang and, in His providence, keeps it in existence. No big deal, IMO. And truth meets truth quite nicely.

I dont fear science. But a person needs to factor in everything for even equations to work. What is wrong with the "Big Bang Theory" is that its based on probability. It is not a good bet. If you believe in that theory odds are you dont even exist... but yet you are here somewhere.

It all boils down to the word "faith" if you look it up in the dictionary you will see that "faith" is the belief in something that has no proof" science is all about proof. There is no physical proof that Jesus existed only in the bible and that was written by men after Jesus died if believe it has to be flawed because men are flawed.

I really don't think christians are fearful of science. Fact of the matter is anybody that does the actual research, will see evolution is mostly theory, you have faith certain things happened.

All laws and science is from the Creator. How does electricity or gravity know what to do all the time? How does the earth know it must turn exactly at a certain angle and rotation speed?

Because it causes some of them to question their beliefs.

i don't know, it could be because physical proof may sway the people in the pews?
