For me it will be when I shed this body. I hope my children are able to grieve only a short time, and appreciate that I have gone to a better place. My mother and I have prayed together that none of her children die before she does. Losing a child is the hardest thing I can imagine. I lost an infant son who lived fourteen hours. I now have a twenty nine year old son who is diagnosed with life changing conditions that will also shorten his life. We just got more test results yesterday. I am on this computer at 4:00am because I don't want to lay awake thinking about what I can not change, but I have prayed for a miracle.

Top contributor wefmeist... is quite correct in identifying King Solomon's Kohelet - Chapter 7 [Ecclesiastes] and wefmeist... 's answer would have been superb with the addition of stating the most obvious of all, the day of death is that point in life by which all of the Good Deeds are summed up by which no more can be done. Whereas on the Day of Birth the infant is full of potential to do Good Deeds and that by comparison on the Day of Death the Individual has done the Good Deeds. The potential to do Good Deeds cannot ever be compared to the actual doing of Good Deeds.

Well I'm not positive about the good name however I personally would say that good name would be Jesus Christ. And as far as the day of death because if your a Christian your going to paradise and getting off this plane of suffering. Which when a Christian suffers it is not in vain. Who do you think will be glad to see death, a satan loving billionaire or a poverty stricken Christian. And as we all know nothing but death is certain and we were born to die. So we know that death is the only inevitable situation we will all face it makes sense to me to prepare for it before the plane hits the building. You just never know. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

According to Ecclesiastes Chapter 7 verse 1, it is the day of ones death.
However I think you have to put the verse in the context of the subject matter the author (Solomon) is addressing.
Everything in the book is from the perspective of what can be observed "under the sun", that is, in the light of human reason.
Solomon makes various statements in the book that are clearly repudiated in later portions of Scripture, especially the teachings of Jesus, who "brought life and immortality to light through the gospel" (II Timothy 1:10)
Solomon did not have this light, and therefore despaired of life when seen only from the perspective of natural reason. His conclusion and the theme of the Book is "vanity of vanities - all is vanity (or futility) "
So it must be understood that this verse only pertains to life from a natural perspective.
It is manifest that for a believer "to depart and be with Christ... is very far better: " (Philippians 1:23);
but for the unbelieving and the sinner it holds the dread of punishment and the wrath of God.
In their case therefore there is nothing good about the day of their death.

Depends.
For the Christian...BETTER because we will be with Jesus forever with NO pain no hurt no anguish no sorrow no death no nothing bad.
For the nonChristian....Worse for they will be in Hell soon waiting to be cast into the Lake of Fire. They will be horrified, weeping, wailing, gnashing teeth, and in great torment.
Which is sad...seeing Jesus died for us and shed His blood and rose again so we could be saved and not have to go to the Lake of Fire.
If we accept and believe and confess our sins and live for Him, we can have eternal life. He who has the Son has life but he who has NOT the Son has NOT life. 1 John 5:12.

Birth, because it's the first day of my existence. Death is the end of my existence, and while not scary it is not necessarily desirable.
