My fiance and I are getting married in June 2008, we are both quite young and what with having to pay for the wedding and buy a house and all those things we dont have a lot of money. But we want to go somewhere nice - somewhere tropical but reasonably priced. Does anybody have any ideas? We would love somewhere like fiji or cook isalnds in one of those overwater bungalows but just dont have the cash. Any suggestions, past experiences or links to good resorts or specials would be much appriciated.
Oh and please dont suggest we wait a year or so, i think it loses the charm of being a honeymoon then...

If you don't have a gift registry already did you know that Flight Centre and a few other travel places do honeymoon registries?
You can specify the flights and destination and your guests can either pay towards the cost of the flights or they could purchase something special like an island cruise when you get there or a full breakfast one morning.
If you are looking for destinations Noumea has some great honeymoon deals with accomodation and some places cater only for honeymoon couples. Doesn't take too long to get there, flights are relatively cheap.
Have a look at the 'lonely planet' travel guides and qantas holidays for some tips.
You could also have a wishing well at your reception and ask your guests for a donation to 'wish you well' for your new life together and see where the donations can get you
Ps I'm an Aussie too :o)

Some places in Mexico are very cheap and tropical getaways, such as Belize. I know Sandals resort has good deals on the off season, but I'm not sure thats in june. Also, depending on how long you want to go, some cruise lines offer resonably priced packages to the caribbean and mexico. Congrats on your wedding.

This resort offers rooms at 394.00 a night, but includes all meals. It looks like a nice place. Maybe you could go to the resort on your 1 year anniversary?
You could go to the Oregon coast for your honeymoon. They have great whale watching tours.
Oh, by the way congratulations! Wherever you end up, you'll have a great time.

check out the local holiday destinations. Australia is beautiful.
find out about local islands you can visit, dunk island, phillip island, barrier reef, fraser island. all gorgeous and much cheaper then going overseas.
buy the sunday mail, it's all in there :)

I've heard a lot of good things regarding the Sandals resorts. A lot of people on here even mention Sandals as a good deal and all-inclusive.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!

Instead of Sandals, try http://www.superclubs.com and choose the Super Surprise package. I saved 50% by choosing that package.
