My husband has been experiencing really bad "on and off" pain on the lower right side of his back for like 2-3 weeks already. It hurts him when he presses on that area. It also hurts him sometimes when he coughs or sneezes. He says it's not a strained muscle. He thinks it might be one of his lower back ribs or kidney but he is not to sure. Should he see a doctor? Does anyone have a clue what it might be? Has anyone gone through something like this?

I went through that, I had a small accident a few years ago. I had fallen and hurt my back. I still get the pain but not everyday. I started seeing a chiropractor and it helps my pain alot.

It sounds to me that he has a bulged disc or the beginning of one. This could be something that could cause him to be on pain meds for the rest of his life. Have him get an MRI of his lumbar region to see if he has any disc protrusions. If this is caught early enough, it can be helped. Tell him to put some heat on his back when he just relaxing around the house. Buy a back brace to wear under his clothing during work if he is doing any lifting. Do not wear his wallet in his back pocket, this will cause him pain. If he puts heat on his back, make sure he puts an ice pack on it before he gets up to do anything such as lifting or working out or so forth. Some people just find it more comfortable with the ice. The ice causes the muscles to shrink. You can also go to your nearest chiropractor and get some biofreeze and rub on, that may help with some of the pain. I wouldn't let this go too long, because if it is the disc, it could end up in a blown disc, and you can not fix a blown disc. I would suggest getting to your doctor as soon as possible.

I obtained an inflamed lympnode from shaving my underarm...guy permit me let you know, I would not want that shyt on my worse enemy. Can you consider approximately an pastime that does not incorporate having to transport your arm, no longer even within the slightest? It even harm whilst I was once slumbering, you float of to sleep, fail to remember it is there then make the tiniest fidget and you are in blinding suffering once more! I do not need children but so that you can date that's probably the most excruciating suffering I have ever skilled and I've been hit via a auto, had like five surgical procedures which integrated ridiculously lengthy needles getting used for regional anesthetic however they can not examine. But I guess knee surgical procedure could not were an afternoon on the seaside both!

He needs to see a physician. The fact that the pain worsens with coughing or sneezing is called a positive valsalva maneuver. This is sometimes seen in patients who have a disc protrusion. This isn't necessarily a big or alarming issue, but it should be evaluated.

Sounds like a Disc bulge. I had one but not the disc prolapsed as they took so long to diagnose the Disc Bulge. Therefore get him to see the Doc asap and a MRI. It took then one trip through, bowels, bladder, womb, kidneys, gall bladder and Gyn [no STD or cancer] to find zero. It was almost two years before they did a MRI and hey presto! So do not mess around! Good Luck

He needs to see a Dr. It could be kidney problems (infection, kidney stone etc.) or a problem with the bones or back muscles. It's been going on for 3 weeks...time to evaluate the cause.
