You pray because you love God and you want him to know that your going to take time to do somthing that the flesh doesn't want to do. You don't want to go to an alter and bow down for an hour or two! No! you want to go to the movies, hang out with people, go eat! But the reason why you pray is to bring up others and yourself. If its either asking for help, asking help for others, or just thanking God for what you have even if you don't think you have anything to think God about. Well breathing is one thing. And if you don't think thats good then you miswell be happy because if you were dead you would be in a much worse place. If your introuble you pray to get out of the mess. God is always there. Now he might not give whatever you want to you right away. Hes not somthing that you can just ask and he'll dish it out for you. He will also sometimes not answer because you don't take time for him why should he take time for you. *thats how i see it he probably doesn't* God is a loving God thats why you should pray.

If everything is going great and you don't need anything, well then you don't have to pray at all- that is if you don't know God at all. Then, it is like dialing Him up just to hear a dial tone (which will happen) So, life has a way of turning the corner and you can run into a brick wall. You may be thinking that you will be able to stick it out until it turns back again-and you can! The best thing to do is listen to your heart--God has a way of comforting you in your heart-just Him and You. Then again some friend or brother of yours may be waiting for you to open up -grab some humility and listen to his direction. In that case, you can learn to listen to God and help your family or friends and then after a time you can be the source for helping others to get to "hear" the voice of God and teach them how it works. It's OK to ask God for money to get you on your feet or peace if that is what your need is. Go for it Man!

Its the Heavenly-Earthly transaction. Prayer is not just talking to God,but itsthe most powerful weapon and privilege of the believer and the Church as the Body of Christ.
Prayer aligns us with the Will of God. When we are those who have an abiding life in the Lord, prayer is one of the most natural results of that kind of abiding. Prayer says to the Lord that He is our sufficiency, that apart from Him we can do nothing. Our praying is our trusting completely in God to carry out His will and work in and through us as His church and Body.
We need to be those familiar with the throne of Grace, there we obtain mercy and find grace for timely help. A believer who does not pray is one that has no real way to hear from the Lord or hear the Lord. May we be so exercised to pray in spirit and to pray in the Holy Spirit day by day.
One brother put it well...
" Prayer is to God what tracks are to trains"
When we pray, we put the tracks down for God's will in the Heavens to be accomplished on the earth. We are telling God that we are here standing in oneness of the Spirit FOR Him.. that we are HERE FOR HIM. Such a precious thought. such a mercy to be such ones.
Great Q
In Christ

To build up ourselves in the faith, as Jude 1:20 says. Whether that is praying for someone else or events in their life, or praying for our own situations, if we witness to the fact that Yahweh's will is to be done, and that we are in His will, the prayer will be affirmed, thus building our faith (the only prayers that continue to Yahweh through the mediater Yahshua are those that are in Yahweh's will). If it is not affirmed, we should consider why and correct the error of our ways, thus building our faith. If prayer is being offered simply as worship, we build our faith. If we don't know exactly the words to say, the Spirit Comforter prays for us through 'groanings'. ALL for the purpose of building our faith.
Within this process, we are also offering sacrifice unto Yahweh.
Psa 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee [as] incense; [and] the lifting up of my hands [as] the evening sacrifice.
Psa 116:17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of Yahweh.
Too bad many do not pay attention to the rules placed concerning prayer however. Many things are not even to be prayed about. Some people are not to be prayed for at all. To do so is out of the will of Yahweh .... etc.etc.

Prayer is not getting God ready to do our will, it is getting us ready to do His.
Prayer is the way we communicate with our Heavenly Father. I know from personal experience that prayer always brings results- however not always , at first the results that we would like. I have prayed that God would remove a chronic illness, that causes pain from me for many years, He has not- however that does not mean prayer does not work- what I have learned to do is pray for His strength and grace to endure, and that He has answered.

why not? what have you got to lose... maybe everything...abd sometimes that is what it takes to get someone to pray...it did me. I am a recovering addict that used drugs for over 30 years and I was a hope to die dopefiend until something inside of me put me on my knees and I prayed. I've been clean for almost 3 years now and those prayers were answered....So why pray? Because it just might change life, your life and it just might save you from truly wanting to die ...l just ike me. God is listening...are you talking? more important are youlistening because God is speaking to you.

Those who pray hope and believe that someone is listening. so people pray to be heard. it is something to do with your woes also, like you aren't alone in the universe with your problems. if you pray someone/thing might hear you. and that gives the ultimate comfort, that we're not by ourselves.

When I taught my kids to pray, I explained it like this: the Bible tells us to and even how to!
"After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen"
It showed us in steps what to do: give praise, be thankful, ask for help, acknowledge our faults, call on him for help because he has the power, realize who is king, and show respect
