We in America take it for granted, but since 1776, we have had to fight for our freedom. Many people are not aware of the cost freedom brings. Had America not joined forces to beat Germany in two wars, with Japan and Italy in the second, the world would be much more different than it is now.
In the invasion of Tarawa, 6,000 Marines died, and 2600 wounded in the first 72 hours of battle.
Germany, on the average after the Normandy invasion, Allies were loosing 12,000 soldiers per week.
If we had the liberals we have now in Congress, I think one third of America would belong to Japan, One third to Italy and One Third to Germany. They would have pulled us out of WW2 because of the loses.
We lost 56,000 troops in 10 years in Nam, and Congress, tried to run the war there from capitol hill and it didn't work then, and it wont work now.
The best way to learn why people fight for their independence, is to live in a third world country for a while and see how many rights you don't have.

Common people fight and make great sacrifices for winning independence. After independence, the leaders rule the roost with corruption, favoritism and nepotism.
