I am doing a double degree at the moment , Chemistry Sc and Chemical Eng . What kind of extra job opportunities can I get with a double degree compared to just Chemical Eng by itself. Will the double degree be a bonus when I look for employment ? I have an option of dropping out the Chemistry science , so i wanted some of your opinions . The difference is 1 extra year of study . Thanks a lot ( Im in Australia btw )

Another option to consider is getting the engineering degree as soon as possible. Then you could stay another year to get your science degree or start your career and simultaneously take classes part-time. If you could get a job as an engineer it would be financially easier to continue going to school.

Probably not. I'm a chemistry major and have a brother who is an engineering major. My degree has little to nothing to do with engineering and depending on the classes you take on the chemistry side you will not even get into the instruments used for chemistry in some cases. So really you probably need to head to a different school because majoring in chemistry probably will not do you much good for chemical engineering.

for just one extra year why not go ahead and get both. its an added edge for your resume. you can apply for twice as many jobs. chemistry and chemical engineering are different jobs. you will be able to do both.
