Why is it that when you see a friend that you haven't seen for so long, they always ask "Why don't you ever call me anymore?" or they call you "Stranger," or they say "You don't call me." Just something to indicate that you haven't been reaching out to them. They don't say this in a mean way, more of like a teasing way. My question is, they are as guilty as you are for not calling, why do they make it sound like it's all your fault? This is something that happens more often than one would think, so it's kinda casual but I thought it was worth asking.

I can relate I get this all the time. I think it basically comes down to idle chit chat but I don't think you should feel bad about it .You are right it is a two way street. Maybe next time just say I know I am busy, busy what about you? Where have you been? I guess it is definitely better than no one wondering where you have been. So funny this happened to me yesterday and almost the exact thing you wrote. Good luck.

because it's awkward to bump into people you used to hang out with. You both are fully aware that the relationship fizzled because neither friend made the effort to stay in touch. If someone said that to me I'd really say, "back at ya man! You have my number :)"

Good question, and although I don't know why they do this, I always respond back with, "You don't call me anymore even more!" and "Strangerer!" and "why don't you call me anymore but worse!" They get the idea.

They are probably losers, who want to make it look like they don't care that you haven't been in touch, so they joke about it.

Because they are acting like big babies and think the world revolves around them :) and they want your attention.

When they tell me those things I usually answer to them: "you didn't called me neither, so don't complaint".

Perhaps they are subconsciously passing the blame all on you.
