Has anyone had any experience with the K-9 carts (wheelchair type devices for dogs with weak hips)? I'm thinking about getting one for my 10 year old German Shepherd and would like to know if anyone has ever used one and how well their dog adjusted to it. Thank you.

Yes my dog is on every kind of meds for her hips. She has arthritis along with degenerative nerve disease and muscle lose. I'm also aware of the exact measurements, I'm planing on buying a new one, but thanks for the heads up.

My friend had to get one for her german shepard after the dog unexpectedly ruptured a disc in her spine and became paralyzed from the middle of her back down. She (the dog) has adjusted VERY well to it, and has been usng it for a couple of years now. She zips around like nobody's business, and plays with the other dogs just fine. In fact, using her "wheels" has encouraged her to regain some movement in her rear legs (they kick while she wheels herself around). Watch your toes, though, as dogs on wheels are apt to run over your feet!

be very careful getting a used one. the measurments must be exact for each dog.

try Deweys wheelchairs. his are great & encourage walking. many dogs have started walking again with his.

do you have the dog on glucosimine, chondroiten, msm?

it is most likely his hips & not his legs

I know a Corgi at the dog park that loves to zip around in his. A far better option than not getting any exercise, IMHO.
