Trying to install a Radio in a '91 Ford Taurus for my Wife's birthday.

I think I need to remove the center console to get at the wiring.

The center console seems to be more or less 1 piece.

I found the top screws but looking and feeling around the bottom of the console, I can't find the bottom screws to allow it to release.

Searched the web abd can't find instructions. Trying to save money by DIY

CLARIFYING: I'm talking about the Center console that houses the Radio

on the 91 it does not touch the floor.

This model has a bench seat so it doesn't have a center shifter or cup holders.

Woah.. if your trying to pull out the factory radio.. if you look on each side of that radio you will see two holes. basically a total of four holes ON THE RADIO. You need to go to Wal-Mart, or to your local auto part store and get a ford car stereo removal tool. It will be two peices you shove one in each side of the radio and push out and pull back and the radio will slide back out at you. On the back of the radio is a clip which is plugged into the radio, (91 taurus will probably have 2 a grey and a black). Go get a wiring kit (also at walmart.) the plugs that come out of the radio will plug into it and the wires on the new radio will connect to the new wiring kit plugs. Good luck.. i've done hundreds of these.. your knuckles only hurt for a few days...
If you look at this site: http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalFordVan.htm

The tool the guy is holding in the 2nd picture down.. that is what you need to get that thing out! Good Luck

The console is screwed into the floor pan between the seats. There is probably a carpet or rubber mat on the inside bottom of the console. Remove the mating and you will see at lleast 3 screws. These might look like hex-headed bolts but have a philips screw type slots. It is at least a #2 philips head or even a #1. The bolt-head part is probably 1/4, 3/8, , 7/16 inch size. Simply unscrew the screws and the whole unit will come out.

Feel and look all around for visible or any screws you can feel remove them. and sometimes in the cup holder on the actual center counsil their is like a black padding under that is another screw. then y get a scewdriver and pry it carefully cuz their should be clips as well not visible holding it in from the inside. Its more difficult then it seems.
goood luck
