You have to be 18 to make those decisions. Why don't you want to go to the dentist? I assume it is because you are scared or you just plain don't like it. I know the feeling believe me! I stopped going to the dentist when I was 18 and didn't go back until I was 29. DO NOT DO THAT! When I did go back I had to get a number of fillings, one tooth pulled, root canal and one crown can promise you that it would have been better just to go every year like i was supposed too. Do not get me wrong I still HATE going but I don't want a stinky rotten mouth either and that is what happens when you don't go and get a cleaning and make sure you don't have cavities.

It is only when you decide that you want to have false teeth, bad breath and poor general health that you can decide the dentist is not for you. Gum infections from plaque build up can cause loss of the bone structure that surrounds each tooth. This loosening of the teeth is usually not noticable until significant bone loss has occured. The build up of plaque on the teeth and under the gum line is also linked to heart disease and diabetes so if you want to see your health and your teeth go down the drain stop seeing the dentist. You aren't always going to be 16. You have probably had this final set of teeth for at least 5 years so think about how long you think you want to keep them.

YA BIG WEIRDO. Why are all teenagers doing the whole "Rebellion" thing. Your probably just afraid. Someone who is afraid of the dentist, Seems just a little immature. Never trust an immature person to make decisions for themselves. If that did happen, the world would fall apart. Two more things. stop writing 2s instead of twos. And try sedation dentistry. It makes you feel all happy inside...

technically you cant make that decision on your own until you're 18 or until you are emancipated.

but i dont think if you told your parents that it bothered you that they would absolutely FORCE you to go....but then again, i dont know your parents.

you DO need to go to the dentist though.

if all else fails and talking to your parents doesnt work, and you absolutely must go, talk to the dentist about if youre uncomfortable or something. i mean if something scares you or something hurts, tell them and hopefully the experience will suck a little less for you!

like i am a severe needle phobic, and my parents forced my to go even though i would scream and cry everytime the doc went to give me the shot in the mouth. all i had to do was talk to the guy and now i dont get anymore shots and i dont even mind going anymore.

bottom line though is that you cant really do anything about it except talk your parents out of torturing you.

If you know how to take care of you teeth, then you really don't need to go. But if you're the type to skip a few days on brushing your teeth, then I recommend you still go just to make sure you don't have decaying cavities and such.

You're old enough to make your own decisions (:
if you parents deny, then.... explain to them!!

yes you can make your own decisions...there is no such age to stop going to the dentist...
its better to go to the dentist every year to have a check-up, don't be stubborn thinking that your old enough not to go to the dentist..unless you want all your teeth to be gone...

If you're smart, you don't stop going. In order to make sure that your teeth remain healthy you should see the dentist twice a year for your lifetime.

u should go at least once a year (recommended is twice a year) no matter how old u are. it helps ur teeth because the dentists clean away some plaque and its gonna keep ur teeth healthier for a longer time

Well, 18. but if you don't go to the dentist, you get cavaties, but you don't know, so your teeth rot. You don't want to spend your hold life talking like this:
plfe paf hs slaf
(please pass the salt)
or sucking mash potatoes from a straw, right?
