Use a spray bottle and spray the cat when he is at the bottom of the tree getting ready to climb...he'll eventually start to get the hang of it! No pun intended.

I would try using direct eye contact and a firm no when kitty tries to climb up the tree. With some cats its a natural instinct to do that. I have a bobcat no tail and she loves to climb the higher the better for her but she knows i mean business when i tell her no about my christmas tree. I think there is also something you can get to spray on the tree so it will repel kitty. You will have to check on that. My cat had a bad habit of getting on my bed so what i would do is shoo her off of my bed and tell her no when she went to jump i swatted her gently and told her no after awhile she got the message so before she gets on my bed when she looks at me she knows whether i will allow her on it or not. My kitty is about the same age as yours so i can relate. She is bigger than the normal cat but a really cool cat. I named her Shadow and love her to death. So good luck with kitty. You could look for other techniques too or ask a vet...Good luck with kitty

If the tree keeps coming down... Have the tree in a corner (if you don't already), get two little eye hooks, screw them into the walls, then take a wire and string it across a portion of the top section of the tree. This will prevent the tree from falling and you will hardly even notice the wire. And keep all glass ornaments either off the tree or up high.

It will be a LOT LOT easier to just tie the tree in place than to keep the kitty out of it!

Can you look at this as CUTE behavior? I think it's adorable! And yes, I've had cats knock down trees before -- I still think it's cute! I just learned to tie my tree in place.

Try to have fun and ENJOY your playful kitty!
