I'm thinking about adding glycolic facials (30%) to my Proactiv regimen. Is this safe for my skin?

Just FYI, the acne fighting ingredients in Proactiv Solutions are BOTH benzoyl peroxide (both in the cleanser and the lotion) and glycolic acid (in the toner).

The benzoyl peroxide in the lotion kills the acne bacteria while the glycolic acid in the toner helps shed of excess skin cells.

Also important, the level of BP in Proactiv is 2.5%, which is low. Therefore, it MAY be possible to add the facial as an occassional treatment but it would not be advisable to use BOTH bp and glycolic acid simultaneously on a daily basis as it may be "too much" for your skin.

I would, however, let the facialist know you are using BP products so that she may take precautions if necessary - look out for reactions, etc.

In principle, both doses (BP 2.5% and GA 30%) should not cause you any issues. It does, however, pay to be cautious because not everyone's skin is tolerant. The best way is to try with some caution - don't do it yourself the first time and have the facial done by a specialist so they can check how you react.
