Wow... you're all wrong!

Yes the Army is Land Based, and the Navy is sea based.

But... the Navy also carries out alot of Air service, they have aircraft carriers which are ships that carry planes!!! They carry planes for a reason. This makes it easier for pilots to reach their targets and makes it a much faster process. The Navy also has Navy SEALS, whcih are the ELITE soldiers, best of the best! You all act as if the Navy is a bunch of soft sailors on a ship, and that they have no importance in our military. The difference between the Army and Navy is that the Army consistes of mostly Combat and Infantry units, while the Navy consists mostly of navigators, pilots, and sailors.

The easy answer is the Army fights on land and the Navy on sea.

However the Marines are a branch of the US Navy and the Army has more boats then the Navy and more planes then the Air Force. But the Marines are used to support the Navy's sea operation and the Army's boats and planes are used to support the Army's land operations.

The Army is a land force, the Navy is a maritime force operating around the world from sea and land bases.
In time of war the Navy also transports Army troops to combat zones and provides additional firepower either in the form of bombarding beach fronts prior to a landing by Army forces.
The Navy also transports food and other supplies to the combat areas for re-supply .
Hospital ships operated by the Navy provide medical care for wounded or injured personnel.
