Your dogs are in "heat". In other words they have their period. It will last for 21 days. This is when they are fertile and can get pregnant easily. Its completely normal for their Vulva (vaginal opening) to be swollen during this time. Just make sure you don't expose them to any intact un-neutered male dogs for the next 3 weeks. Be careful because male dogs can smell a dog in heat and will jump the fence to impregnate your dogs. If you don't plan on breeding your dogs then i'd get them spayed after their heat cycle otherwise you can expect to see this every 6 to 8 months. After you get them spayed they will never get their period ever again.

General Information
Estrus ("heat") is the mating period of female animals. When estrus occurs, animals are said to be "in heat" or "in season." Dogs generally have their first estrous cycle at 6-12 months of age. Some females of the large breeds, however, may not have their first estrus until they are 12-24 months of age.
The complete cycle takes about 6 months, resulting in 2 estrous periods each year. Individual variation occurs, but a given female's pattern tends to be repeated regularly.
The estrous cycle can be divided into 4 stages:
1. Proestrus: This stage begins with the appearance of vaginal bleeding. It normally lasts from 4 to 9 days. Male dogs become very interested in the female; however, she will not yet mate with them.
2. Estrus: This is the stage in which the female will accept the male and conception can occur. The vaginal discharge is more yellowish than bloody. Ordinarily, the stage lasts for 4 to 13 days. Your female will stand still and hold her tail to the side when you touch her back or a male dog tries to mount.
3. and 4. Metestrus and anestrus: These 2 stages are periods of ovarian activity, but with no significant outward signs. False pregnancies frequently occur during metestrus.
Some Important Points
* You should consider your pet to be "in season" for 21 days: 7 days coming into heat, 7 days in heat, 7 days going out. Though conception is most likely during the middle 7 days, Mother Nature doesn't always follow the rules. Confine your pet for the entire 3 weeks.
* Remember that the above information is general. Not all females follow these patterns. Consult with the doctor if your pet does not seem typical. Sometimes, cycling problems can be an early warning of more serious problems, and the sooner they are dealt with, the better.

i am 99% sure that your girls are in heat. one way to tell is to scratch them at the base of thier tail, it they have a strong reaction to it (ie the tail going to the extreme lef or right, them backing up into the scratch, whining, etc) it is almost certain that they are in heat. you may notice that there is an increase of male dogs near your home in the next few days. keep a very close eye on them when they are out. you do not want any unplanned puppies! if you are not going to breed, you should get them fixed ASAP! there are way to many dogs in shelters due to unplanned pregnancies and "backyard breeders" it is also impossible to tell what traits your pups would have if you do not know the pedigree of the male.
hope this helps :)

haha no worries, they are just in heat! Dogs go through heat when they are ready to mate, they do this about twice a year. The bloody discharge is normal, they make diapers for this purpose, you can buy them at petsmart. OR... to prevent this in the future, you could have them spayed! They will have a distinct smell right now that signals to males that they are ready to reproduce, so you might want to keep your dogs inside for the duration of the heat cycle, or you will get some unwanted male dog visitors who could get your dogs pregnant. good luck!

Sounds like they're in heat......Most female dogs come into season for the first time between 6 and 12 months......The age that a ***** first comes into season is mostly a function of her current body weight as a proportion of her body weight when fully mature. They then experience estrus about every seven months until old age.

Are they unspayed females? If so, stay calm. they are probably in heat. If they are spayed or males, call the vet. If this lasts over 1-2 weeks, call the vet. They could be having bowel problems. Or if they are unspayed females and its lasted too long, see the vet. They could have something bad, like ovarian cysts or something.

It sounds like they are in heat. When dogs are in heat, they do swell down there. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you think it could be something else, then I would have them checked out by the vet, but from what it sounds like... you have nothing to worry about, besides other dogs coming to your house ;]
You should get them fixed!!

Your dogs are in heat!! Keep them away from ALL male dogs!! They can easily get pregnant. They are WAY too young to have pups. If you are not going to be breeding them when they get older, then you need to call the vet and set them up an appointment to be spayed.

Sounds like your dogs are just having a heat cycle.
Unless spayed they will do this every so often.
They do get swollen in those areas, lick those areas alot, they will hump each other like male dogs do, etc... It is all normal. I don't see why you would have to consult any vet.
God Bless.
