I think it depends on the brand. But the main advantage is you get some milk in, because of the nature of the mix. It makes it definitely sweeter, but the taste of chocolate is poor compared to unsweeted cocoa powder, which is rich and strong. ( at least when it is good quality) The chocolate mix means more sugar, and more calories too. But if calories are not an issue, then you can just add a few oz of heavy cream to the unsweetened preparation, this way, the cakes comes moist and the strength of the cocoa is balanced. It all depends if you have the requirements of a great taster or not.:-) I mean it is all a matter of preference after all, no big deal. Anyways, God bless you! and sand me a slice of that delicious cake you will be doing, chocolate is my favorite addiction :-) Bye! neliot

I've been using this recipe since I got it in 7th grade home-ec.
10 cups dry milk powder
4 3/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1 box of Nestle's Quick Chocolate or Strawberry flavor
1 3/4 cups powdered non-dairy creamer

What a considerate gift. Why not just put in an envelope or two of pre packaged mix, like Carnation or nestles?
