Cardio, cardio and more cardio (ever see how skinny professional runners are even though they eat a ton of carbs?). You can run, jog, walk (quickly, you must elevate your heart rate), use a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical, swim.....I think you get the idea. Just elevate your heart rate and maintain it for 20 minutes to help build endurance and 30 minutes to start burning fat. Fat is stored sugars, the sugars are made from carbs. Good luck and remember, if you're not already active, consult your doctor before you start any exercise program.

only moderate to high intensity exercise utilizes carbs/glucose as the primary energy source. low intensity exercise such as walking, lifting light weights, light housework, computing, office work, sleeping, etc. all utilize free fatty acids as the primary energy source.

moderate intensity would be power/fast walking, slow jogging, moderately heavy weight training, swimming, etc. basically you need to get your heart rate up to 60-70% of max.

When you exercise or do anything - you can only burn CALORIES (which are also in protein and fat) but you can't single out carbohydrates.
