I recently go my long haired cat groomed and clipped at the vet because he kept retaining clumps of hair. When I brought him home my other cat (which they have been together and friends for 2 years) turned on him. He would chase and attack to the point we had to separate them for 1 or 2 weeks. They finally got over it. I would like to get my cat groomed again in the future but if it causes this type of problems its not worth it. Any solutions for this behavior??

When a cat returns from vet procedures or grooming they have picked up strange smells from that environment and the cat who stayed home considers them a stranger.

It can help to put a dab of kitchen vanilla or scented hand cream on each kitty's nose and under their tail. Those strong smells makes them smell alike and masks any other strange smells they have picked up from being outside the home.

Instead of taking him to the groomers, can't YOU just brush him? If you brush him every day, the mats won't build up.

Or you could ask them to use unscented shampoo if they have it. Or ask THEM what to do about the problem -- they might have a solution.
