That isn't 25 dollars in today's money... and they could have accepted or refused.

Let the buyer beware. If you are overcharged for something and no one held a gun to your head to make you make the purchase, then in all fairness, you are at fault. How much is fair? and how much is too much? I work for an industrial supply house. Most of my prices are determined by my competition. If my customer can buy something for less, somewhere else, that is where they generally go. If you do your research, shop around, study the Blue Book, and have determined what a car is worth, then don't pay more. If you do, then shame on you. My wife buys our automobiles. She says," this is what I will pay, and no more, do you want to sell me this car?" She has won every time. You can too.
