well, that depends. how old are you?
if you're fairly young it might because he's not allowed to date & he's afraid of his parents.
however, even if this is the case, he needs to not hide you away. he's most likely ashamed of you, which is ridiculous.
if he won't let you date in the open, dump him. don't let him treat you like that.

I bet you're not the only one he's doing that to. If he doesn't let people know that he has a girlfriend then how many girlfriends might he have? I don't believe he's ashamed of you because then he just wouldn't be with you even in private. I do suspect he's a dirty rotten snake though and that he's got other girls. Run!

i wont quite say he is ashamed of you.....
a friend of mine just got a gf and he said to me please dont tell anyone she doesnt want anyone to know....at first i thought that she didnt deserve him and she was playing him but soon after he told me that she finally told him why...it was because she had been hurt so much in the past that she wnat to be sure that this was legitimate and sincere before she announced it.....now she is telling everyone...
my point is your bf may have a legit reason why he doesnt want ppl to kno yet...ask him why and what issues surround him not want ing ppl to know....also you should tell him how you feel about not wanting anyone to know.....
i really dont think we should be too quick to judge him talk to him first..
