There are many rules practicing religion Islam that were made by religious scholars in the absence of directions in Divine Revelations after the Prophet of God died. There are some variations in some of these rules.
One scholar can argue or criticize a rule made by another scholar if he thinks it is not quite right and needs to be changed.
For example Prophet Mohammad said, start the fasting when you see the new moon of Fasting month from next morning and celebrate the Eid after the end of fasting month when you see the new moon again of next month. In hot sunny days in Madina, it was easy to see month. But Muslims have difficulty to see moon in North America where in winters it is often cloudy. So here scholars have decided to follow the astronomical calculated result which is mostly very accurate. Now it is not necessary to look for moon or wait all night for news if moon was seen any where in USA. This headache has been more or less stopped now.
From astronomical calculations it is known well ahead of time when the next moon will appear in North America and that date is pre-planned to start Fasting and to celebrate the Eid on first day of following month.

No. If you truly believe that it's all a bunch of delusion, wouldn't you want to free people from that?
