All we have to do is sell them nuclear reactors, then charge them to run them.

This way we bring their children into the 21st century while making vast profits selling them clean energy.

It's a win-win.

I don't know anything about your 'one laptop per child' campaign, but supporting education in poor countries might actually be a very good deal. It is well known that educated people with higher income don't get kids as young as poor people does and not as many kids either. Computers can actually help the environment if we can use them to for example communicate and get information from instead of driving around in cars as much.

One more thing, poor people in poor countries can't afford to think about preserving the rain forests or any other important eco resources. If we are about to succeed with our important tasks (and I'm not only talking about global warming here) we need to fight poverty at the same time as we're taking steps to lower our own impacts on earth.

This is a very hypocritical program indeed. All those extra laptops need electric, and electric is produced by facilities that use coal, oil or some other fuel that produces greenhouse gasses. So we pollute our environment while we teach kids about computers. Makes no sense to me.
