OK- in the book of Mormon, brought to you by the Angel Moron-i, it tells of great citys, and wars,,,

Uh, where IS this evidence?

The bible's 100% backed up by archeological evidence (See "Biblical Archeological Review" Magazine for more details. So its solid- but the Book of Mormon isn't- why is that?

Any idea what the largest central American ruin is???

It's called "El Mirador" in Guatemala. Guess what....It's not excavated. It's still buried under mounds of dirt. Think we'll learn anything new once it's excavated???

There are a number of ancient American written languages that we have examples of but can't yet decipher....think we'll learn anything from those?

I think the Book of Mormon probably took place in southern Mexico and Guatemala, but we don't really know for sure. It could be that we're looking in the wrong places all together.

Cortez burned entire libraries of the Maya and the Aztec that covered hundreds, perhaps thousands of years of history. Think we lost anything there???

The fact is that there WERE great cities all over central America. Tikal, Palenque, the Olmecs, Maya, and Aztecs. There are ruins everywhere down there. There are pyramids in central America with 15 feet of dirt and full grown trees growing out of them. The jungle eats up many things.

It's also worth pointing out that today there is MORE supporting evidence for the book of Mormon than there was when it was first published. Try writing a book that goes against contemporary knowledge today, but within 150 years will be proved to be more accurate than the day it was written. THAT is a tricky thing to do.

The Book tells of cities swallowed in water. When it was written, none were known to exist. Once we started flying and diving we started finding them.

He included ancient forms of poetry that were elaborate and perfect (called chiasmus). However, this poetry wasn't even known to exist when he wrote the book.

Horses are mentioned. At the time EVERYONE knew that the Spanish brought the horses....until they found horse remains dating to Book of Mormon times.

So...I assume that you'll take this evidence, verify it, call the missionaries, ask them to teach you, ask God if it's true, and if he says "yes", you'll be baptized, right?????

It is the Spirit of the Lord that changes lives and not Archeology. There's not a shred of archaeological evidence that proves that Christ rose from the dead or suffered for our sins. I love science. I love empirical evidence. However, there are some things that must be learned through spiritual means and taken with faith.

It seems that the Mormon excuse for no evidence of the Book of Mormon is to trash the bible and say there is no evidence for it either. However, here is the difference. While there is no evidence of some of the happenings in the bible. There is evidence of Jerusalem (because it still exists) Solomons temple (a wall still exists, the wailing wall for those who don't know.) There is much evidence to back up the traditions and how things were done. So no there is not much evidence to prove the miracles, but we do know that the cities and people in the bible did exist. Now when it comes to the Book of Mormon, we have no evidence that anything in it happened. There is no evidence of the many cities spoken of, particularly all the ones with huge trenches dug around them, and surrounded by walls. You'd think there would be some evidence of all those cities, but most of all, there was supposedly a HUGE battle that took place very near the Hill Cumorah where the Golden Plates were hidden for Joseph Smith to find. Moroni was the only one to survive, and couldn't have possibly disposed of all the bodies, and all the weapons (swords, cimitars, shields, etc.) Where did they go? Did God come along and clean up the whole mess just to test our faith? And if so, why would he do that? Why would he cover up his tracks and then still expect you to believe it? He wouldn't, but Mormons can't think about this. They can't even give this line of thinking any merit because that means they are evil and are letting Satan into their hearts. Just look at how the mormons on here reacted to the questioning mormon who asked a question. They berated him rather than truly help him understand. That is the easiest way to control people. Don't let them even consider any other options but yours. Tell them if they do, they are letting satan in, and threaten them with Hell, in a friendly way of course.

Where is the archaeological evidence of the burning bush, or the parting of the Red Sea? Where is the archaeological evidence of the feeding of the five thousand with two loaves and five fishes? or any scientific evidence that Jesus is the Christ?

Why do you believe the Bible to be the word of God? Because of archaeological evidence? There IS no archaeological evidence that God even exists.

I'm sure that people can find archaeological evidence for the Koran. Would that make you believe it to be the word of God, as the Muslims believe?

Come to think of it, there is archaeological evidence for the gothic romances I read, does taht make THEM the word of God?

P.S. I totally agree with stormwind dragonlover.

P.P.S. hey, lindz, Decker was not a "temple elder" as there are no such things. He was an elder, but almost every male member over the age of 19 is an elder. So, he's nothing special. He's been to the temple, but so have thousands of Mormons. He's no one special.

I agree the bible is backed %100 by evidence. I don't believe there is any evidence in the book of moromon. Other than the evidence they made up of course...... I have went to a number of mormon institute classes and sundays schools. I can tell you that the majority of their discussion revolves around them convincing themselves and others that the book of mormon is true. I really wish they would spend that 3 or 4 hours a week praising God for what he did as apposed to discrediting him. I'm sure I will get a lot of Flack for this answer but sometimes the truth hurts.

So you are saying you only have faith in the bible because there is evidence? That's pretty weak. And there is evidence of the book of Mormon. Do a little research smart guy.

This seems less like a question, and more like an argument. That aside, the answer to your question is, there is overwhelming evidence that verifies the validity of the Book of Mormon. The evidence is far to vast to list in a single response, so I will simply direct you to a link with vast resources of evidence: http://www.jefflindsay.com/BMEvidences.shtml

One more thing, if a man's belief in God or his works is reliant on physical proofs, signs or evidences, that man's belief must be quite weak. To believe in God is to have faith, to have faith is to believe in something you cannot see, but know is true.

Best of luck on your search for answers.

to declare that archeology has shown the Bible to be authentic is a fallacy. relatively, archeology has shown many religious aspects of the Bible to no longer have handed off, or to have handed off out of chronological order. If I permit you recognize one ingredient concerning the Bible that's fake, will that reason you to lose your faith in God? in all threat no longer. So why are you attempting to thieve away the religion of Mormons with your accusations? Many ex-mormons have an awl to grind with the church, and you evidently won't be in a position to have faith people who maliciously unfold lies concerning the church. You stated that no longer one non-mormon archaeologist has ever demonstrated the truthfulness of the e book of Mormon in accordance with archaeological evidence. nicely, are you able to discover one mormon archaeologist that would not think of the e book of Mormon did no longer ensue? with your form of excellent judgment, you're in simple terms going to flow around and around in circles, in no way discovering something. Why do no longer you in simple terms flow on your way, content fabric with your preconceived notions, and flow away us on my own.

The bible is NOT backed up by archaeological evidence. You have no evidence - Mormons have no real evidence - it seems you sit along side of each other.

Your source is creationism - not reality. You need to read books that are full of information that is unbiased and truthful.

MY MY MY - it's so easy to see anothers faults but disregard your own ignorant ideas. So very special are you. This world resides around your grandiose ideas and only yours.

If you check out this website - http://www.nephiproject.com/
You'll find information in articles of research done to find evidence.
But since you can't ask the question without making childish wordplays (Moron - i) then you've probably already made up your mind and don't really want an honest answer to your question.

xD ROFL...."The bible's 100% backed up".....

I'm sorry, but thats just so funny....please cite your sources because like me, most of the people here won't have the magazine....if your referring to Ron Wyatt, I'm sorry again to burst your bubble but he's a laughing stock in the scientifically, archaeological, and even the christian community. He's practically a wannabe Indiana Jones....
