I have a 16 month old Bichonpoo. I didn't set out to get a designer dog. It was a thing of status for me and I wasn't trying to keep up with the Jones'. My landlord said I could have a small dog. I wanted a puppy because I have multiple sclerosis and I wanted to train the dog from day one to be a service dog and a therapy dog. I checked all the local shelters and some not so local, I checked petfinder but small breed puppies were not to be found. I started researching different breeds on the computer. I fell in love with the Maltipoo. I found a breeder who only bred Maltipoos and Bichonpoos. He offered me a Bichonpoo for a very good price who he described as a sweetheart and a perfect candidate to be a therapy dog and service dog. It was love at first sight. Esperanza is the sweetest, most gentle and loving dog. She is super smart and easily trainable. I know she will make a great service dog and therapy dog.

The last two pups I got was an emotionally decision and flew in the face of common sense, good judgment and everything I've ever read about what not to get when choosing a pup. One was very shy and scared the other had a weepy eye. I've had them for 5.1/2 yrs. and 4/1/2 yrs., love them both and have never regretted my decision.

I looked up dog breeds and picked the one that was the best fit for the first dog. After him for the other dog and cat I went to a rescue and picked the dog and cat that seemed to like me the best. My first dog I love him but he has had health problems and behavior issues. The rescue dog and cat have been the best. I don't breed or care to show dogs so rescue was the better choice for me

Well--- My grandmother is a breeder so all I did was chose. I had arguments because the puppy was already pending on sale to this lady, but I wanted it so badly my grandmother gave up. And I got it for free, though she could have gotten 900 - 1000 dollars from it!!
I picked her because she was show quality, a descendant from my previous dog and the naughtiest in the litter!!

My husband and I actually were picked by both of our dogs at the shelter. There is just something in the way they look at you that says..."I belong with you...take me home!"

when i had my puppy, i had gone into a petshop(normally i would never buy a dog there) but as soon as i saw him there was no way i was going home without him. just that umm...... connection you get with the right animal. sounds weird but as soon as you feel it you know.
