I have to do a report and have to say typical jobs for 2LT for these branches. I've been to branchorientation.com but I want it from people who actually are in the Army.

generally he trains to be a platoon leader of whatever branch he is detailed, his Company Commander is listed as being his principle trainer however in reality this is performed by the Platoon Sergeant as he normally has between 10 and 16 years experience in his field.

'Butterbars' train squad and team leaders or tank commanders or gun crew leaders, the 'Platoon Daddy' trains the 'Butterbar' to be a good leader and trainer....

The only right answer is: Whatever his CO tells him to do.

2LT's are basically privates - they're just learning the ropes of being an officer - even if they were enlisted before, they still get treated like crap and have to do all the dummy-proof work.

No matter what branch they're in, they may get the chance to be a Platoon Leader - which just means they do what the Platoon Sergeant tells them to do. They're ultimately held accountable for everything, but the PS is running the show.

Infantry - he's technically supposed to be the final say in combat decisions, although in practice that never happens.

Armor - he's going to be in with supply, so he takes the fall when something gets lost or broken.

Engineers - he'll be involved in mission planning, but again, the PS is running the show.

Aviation, he'll be flying. If they don't stick him with maintenance, that is.

2LT's get less respect than E1's in most cases. They're learning the ropes, and that begins to change when they reach 02 (1LT).

While I am Air Force, my son is a Capt. in the US Army. He started his military career as a Military Policeman: Rank - E5 or Specialist. After getting his Master' Degree and transfering to the Air Force, he was commissioned a 2Lt and assigned to Logistics. When the Air Force released him due to cutbacks, he entered the Army again, where he was assigned duty in the Quartermaster Corp. So what a 2Lt does when "branched" depends upon his education and what the Army needs first. If he has no training in any of the areas you mentioned, he will be sent to a Training Facility before getting a Duty Assignment.
