Depends how deep you got really, thats a flaw'd perception to have, seems more like a nice way of telling you "Peace" this isn't going to work. If its really the only hang-up you could always tell him, the fact exsist, that the only reason brothers and sisters don't screw like farm animals and get married and have kiddos, is because incest screws up the gene pool so our society descided it was a bad, bad idea. So tell him to shut up, that only work if it was true...... and tell you the real reason. True relationships get even closer then brothers and sisters so the only geniune reason, was because he was scared of who he was and didn't think you'd like that, if he was geniune, if he was....
