Between the years of 1959 and 1994, Zeus smote 3239 people in the U.S. alone, and none of them believed in his existence.

Doesn't this prove that you should believe in Zeus just in case to avoid the infinite pain of his lightning bolts?

Here are the statistics on Zeus's smitings:

Jenae - pass it this way. I be jealous of the smokten.

I think that if there had to be a "real" god I would prefer Zeus and his merry horde of gods. At least they were more like people with their soap opera like existence. At least you can trust that and get a grip on that.

And if you gotta go getting Smote by lighting has got to be better than getting run over by a bus.

Religion was a method of scaring people into a state of submission, born out of an idea that a few intellectuals had thousands of years ago in a time of fractioned conflicts between small groups over wealth, resources and power in general. By having mass control, they could direct this conflict into producing progress (technological, social, ideological etc...)

PAULO,

You know not of what you speak. I am a hospice nurse. In that time, I have taken care of one atheist. He remained an atheist until the day he died - peacefully and quietly without angst. (unlike a lot of Christians that require much liturgical communication to assure them they "really" are ok with God)

Edit: OH MY GOD - when did I become a top contributor?

what if you're wrong?
if you died tonight, where would you end up?
who does your soul belongs to?
you may think that Jesus was just a character and God is a made up name, but i'm here to tell you that the judgment is real.
"the day Shall come when every eye Shall see, every knee Shall bow and every tongue Shall confess the Lord Jesus Christ.
my hope is that you don't wait till then.
"for there are no other name under heaven given unto man, wherefore he must be saved, except Jesus Christ"

there are only one true and living God
one hope
one baptism

If I'm wrong for not believing in Zeus or any other God, then, given the opportunity, I would be more than willing to tell him that I don't think much of him to his face, if he's got one.

Nothing will happen. Belief isn't important. Just treat people the way you'd want them to treat you, no matter what you think of them. Even people who hang things out of their mouth and THEN let the photographer take the picture.

Then I'll go to the "Happy Hunting Ground" just like the millions of Native Americans before Columbus.

I see things...so clearly now...how could I have been so blind before when the Truth was always there, just staring me in the face....

I will spread the Word of Zeus, and let everyone know of his good news...lest they be electrocuted in life, and forever burned in Hel...erm..Hades....

I am an atheist, but your logic is hard to argue against. Plaise Pascal would be proud of you.
