Microsoft Sync....?

Question

Does anyone know what is so special about the Microsoft Sync? and do you know if it is any better then a regular navigation system? because i am getting a new car and want to know if Microsoft Sync is somehting i should be looking for.

i think what makes ms sync is that it is standard on cars equipped with it. a nav system could cost anwhere from $1000-$2000
