I have pains in my muscles in my neck and shoulders. I think I slept on it wrong. What can I do for relief?

Some suggestions:

Get a friend to massage your neck and shoulders.

Take paracetamol or ibuprofen - ibuprofen helps by reducing inflammation.

In some countries you can get paracetamol combined with a muscle relaxant over the counter - be sure to get the pharmacist's advice first!

A nice warm bath can help relax those muscles, or if you don't have a bath, use a powerful, hot shower.

Rub in some "deep heat" cream, which works by increasing blood flow to the area.

Hope this helps! There's nothing worse than a sore neck and shoulders!

You really need one of those tens machines with the electrodes, similar to the shock treatments you get at the doctors office. You can get them cheap on Ebay, I have neck spasms due to a car accident and sometimes my muscles get so twisted and painful, it's the only way I can relieve them. You should get one anyway for future use. I've used it many times over the years. A heating pad does nothing, it only heats the surface the only heat that will penetrate into your joints and down deep is moist wet heat like a hot shower or hot towels. Pair that with a tens machine or a hard message couple times a day you'll be good as new. Just stick the reusable pads on the muscles that are hurting. Turn the power up to a comfortable level for you, you muscles will jump uncontrollably. I like mine really hard but I'm use to it. Do that for about 20 min. a couple times and you will be great again.
Here is a cheap one with a few reusable pads. You can order more! http://cgi.ebay.com/IGIA-ELECTRO-FIT-DIGITAL-MUSCLE-MASSAGE-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ160182546226QQihZ006QQcategoryZ117365QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Go to wal-mart and get you some "epsom salt"!! I loved that stuff when I was prego! Its about $2. You just pour you about 1 cup in running bath water, and the longer you soak, the better you will feel!! I would stay in my bath at least 30 minutes, but sometimes would stay in there up to an hour, lol! After you get out, dry off and get dressed, thats when you will notice the relaxing effect.

Advil works really great for me. So do messages!!! Also if it is not too pain full try to do the head shoulder roll thing you use to do in gym class. It will help loosen the muscle.
