In many areas, kitten season is going longer and longer. I know we are still seeing pregnant cats come through the shelter and spay/neuter clinic. You just have to keep your eyes open. Talking to a shelter NOW and asking about litters they may have right now in foster homes may get you someplace. We have more than a few litters in foster homes right now and frequently would take deposits on them for when they are ready so they do not have to come back into the shelter.
Does not hurt to ask!!!!

Shelters are now neutering kittens before release for adoption, usually at around two months of age. September is usually the end for kitten birth and it won't pick up again until the first of the year.

There will be some wonderful kittens available around Xmas time and they are apt to be around five-six months old. That's really a great age to get them - they are still active and lots of fun and don't come with some of the problems that 2-3 month old kittens can have.

If you must have the younger ones you will have to wait until later next year. Cats are breeding now - it's two months for gestation and then another two for proper weaning, etc. so the great flow of the younger kittens will come in April and May and then all through the summer into fall.

Check out your local SPCA website. They are full of cats. Also consider an adult cat. They have had their shots, have been spayed/neutered and come house trained. Everyone wants a kitten, but they are a lot of work. We just adopted a 2 yr old cat, and we do not have to worry about him destroying our house!
If you do not find the cat that is the best match for you in December, look after X-Mass, too many ppl give an animal as a gift and it gets sent to the SPCA or local shelter.

It will all depend on where you live.. Most of the US has two kitten seasons, one in spring and one in fall, so there could still be some older 12 week old kittens in December...
Petfinder.com can be a good way to find one.. Or just checking your local shelter as many shelters don't even bother to list their cats..
You may even find an adult cat you like just as well.. I personally choose to adopt adults instead so that they're a bit calmer..

No, it will not be difficult to find kittens in December. You should visit your local animal shelter. Animals (dogs and cats of all ages) come in every day. The shelter where I volunteer receives an average of 35 animals a day year round. You can also check local pet stores that host small pet rescues. PetsMart is great for that. The website www.PetFinder.com is a wonderful resource too. Regardless of where you look, have your pets spayed or neutered. And, remember, pets are not gifts, they are new family members! Happy Looking!

Defiantly kittens and cats all over the world are looking for good homes. Its hard to find those good homes now a days. If you watch animal planet there are lots of animal abusers. Good luck finding the right kittens for you!

Well it really depends how high the demand is. sometimes you just gotta be quick. I know that Kittens are higher demand than aged cats. I just bought a kitten that was abandoned, and they could only hold him for a couple hours.

Please don't give kittens as Xmas presents. They should be adopted by people who want them and will take proper care of them.
