I have heard that on the news in Australia, "Ho ho ho" is no longer acceptable because it is degrading to women.

I have also heard many people throw words around like "You're gay".

An NBA coach called some girls "Hoes" and later explained that "There's a difference between bitches and hoes. Hoes is a good thing".

Why is it a bad thing to explain our differences, such as "Black and Asian people have better rhythm"?

Let me know what you all think--too PC or not enough? If you have any research, please list that as well--I am considering this as a speech assignment.

I think political correctness, has gone way too far, for way too long.... it's ridiculous..

Santa can't say "ho ho ho" ... there's no more "Easter Bunny", it's now the "Spring Rabbit".... kids (little kids) get suspended from school for hugging (innocent kind of hugs)..

Political correctness, has effected pro sports.. now everyone wants everything to be "fair"... no hurt feelings, no winners, no losers... it's pathetic..

Political correctness, is homogenizing this country, and attempting to make all the same and bland.. how boring...

PC is nothing more than placating everyone and anyone. It is ridiculous. If some people want to use slang words for real words, it is no reason the rest of the world has to give up the traditional use of similar words. Ho Ho Ho is a laugh and what Santa uses. Idiots who have chosen this word for a whore are just that. It shouldn't matter when low lifes change the English language to mean something other than it is. Then we are bowing to those lowlifes and making their world ours. Not going to happen. We need to rise above and take back our language and throw this slang where it belongs....in the trash. Slang and sleaze words do not belong in everyday cultured English language. To give these people even an inch is appalling.

Too politically correct. At times it seems like, no matter what you say, someone's going to read into it or be offended. I once asked the question: Would you rather have toes or a webbed foot where all the toes are connected together, and someone who actually had a webbed foot was offended. I myself would prefer a webbed-foot. Omigod. It wasn't intended to be offensive to web-footed people. Just a silly question. Bland and dull is often the end result of being politically correct. PC works well for people who are middle of the roaders, fence sitters, or those who flip flop around like a jellyfish, overly concerned with what others will think.

Political correctness is like a fog over our culture, draining it of the vibrancy of it's colors and contrasts... making it a mess of dreary, dull, greyness, sameness, blandness.

I'm not saying that people ought to go around insulting others, that's has nothing to do with PC but with ETIQUETTE (the proper section, of course!)... which is the grease that smooths the interactions of people.

Celebrating differences does not mean insulting them, and recognizing differences does not mean prejudice. Prejudice is only when the values of good/bad, right/wrong are attached to differences that we have NO CONTROL over... such as race, hair color, gender, etc.

Have a polite day.

You are joking, right? Your examples are too funny.
I think ppl in general are WAY too sensitive, but still...I think all of the PC should be totally voluntary. We can be PC for politeness sake, but to ban words or to censor speech is wrong. The idea of "hate speech" for example is very, very scary. Soon, it can be called "hate speech" to disagree with someone. People can lose their jobs and their first amendment rights!
For example, I try not to offend people with the things that I say, just because I would rather not offend. But if I wanted to say something, or criticise someone, or even make a joke, I value my freedom to do just that.
Hope that helps.

Too PC in my opinon....

Which to me just shows that we are all taking life just that little bit too seriously.....

The reason that we need to be PC is so that we don't offend people, if no one was offended than it would not be an issue.

I agree that there are certain issues that we need to be PC about, but I think when we cant even say HOHOHO to someone without them getting offended, then its time to stop and have a good laugh at ourselfs because its getting just a wee bit rediculous.

i remember when you could have a drunk hunter chase a rabbit around the forest unloading shell after shell and we would laugh, and on occasion the rabbit would dress up like a female rabbit and kiss the drunk hunter, and we would still laugh, but now it is unacceptable for Santa to laugh? i mean come on, you can have a song about cumming on a girls back and she sleeps in it and gets the sheet stuck to her back, but Santa cant freakin laugh?? i think its not that we are TOO politically correct, i think we just need to pick which are unacceptable a little better.

Wow...I didn't know that. I think we're becoming too Americinalized with our way of thinking. Soon they'll think "baa baa black sheep" is too insulting. Perosnally I don't like PC, if we're moving away from using these words it just admits we still believe in the negative connotations of those words. And so to ban others from using these words despite what they believe is appropriate just enforces these thoughts on them.

In Australia its 'ba ba rainbow sheep'. Not allowed to say 'good boy/girl' in daycare, its 'good job/work'.

We are getting too PC. Gives me a headache.
