Go to this army web site:
http://www.army.mil/howyoucanhelp/

There is a list of organizations that can help you send packages, cards, letters and support to soldiers. You can also contact any forts, installations, bases etc in your area and ask for the PAO office (public affairs office). They can get you involved with soldiers who are deployed from your area.

Some things greatly appreciated are phone cards, candy, dvd's, cd's and books. Other things depend upon where the soldier is serving. These organizations can help and will provide you with a lot of information. There is also an AKO (Army Knowledge Online) site that you can check out but you must be active duty, dod civilian or a dependant to join.

Hope this is helpful.

The best way to help a soldier is to write letters. Communication back and forth keeps him going. Been there, done that.
