"Three Fourths of the Operation Is Preparation" is something I heard a lot while growing up, but I've not been able to find it anywhere as a quote by a famous person. Do you know of any published originator? If so, please tell me!

Erin, you're probably correct--but I'm just checking to make sure. My mom was doing little sayings, and I always thought she was quoting somebody. So far, I haven't found any of her quotable little sayings ANYWHERE. We're from Philadelphia, and I know she was a big Ben Franklin fan, and I just wonder if she also had his penchant for quotemaking. Or, maybe it's just part of the lore of the area, that people are witty and quotable. Any ideas?

I'd say it's just a saying that you hear all the time, but chances are the first person who said it will never be acknowledged.

Nora! Good to see you posting again.

I've never heard that one, but it reminds me of my high school football coach's 5P's. "Proper preparation prevents poor performance."
