2) Do we eat grass?!

3) What is the "food chain" and what is the role of plants in it?!

#1 It is the transfer of pollen to the female stigma in the flower. This results in fertilization and the production of a seed bearing fruit will develop from the fertilized ovary.

#2 We eat grass indirectly through herbivores but we are unable to digest fiber directly. An herbivores strategy is to deal with the cellulose and lignin, found in plant cell walls separately from protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Herbivorous organisms have enlarged digestive tracts, often including bacterial fermentation chambers separate from enzyme digestion areas. Humans digest carbohydrates, protein and fat by enzymatic action.
#3 the order organisms are consumed. The autotrophs generate the first level by collecting solar energy and converting it into food. plants are autotrophs. The next level are the herbivores as heterotrophs. These are in turn eaten by carnivores another kind of heterotroph. Last to act are the saprothrophs, the detritovores who clean up the decaying plants, animals and manure.

#4 Food is stored chemical energy that plants make for themselves. The food we eat is the source of our energy. As we digest it we harvest the energy stored in the chemical bonds to be used in other cellular processes.
Plants photosynthesize then reverse it with respiration.

We interrupt that by eating the plant so we get the plants food for our use.
