I have this friend, and she just got a pit bull puppy. He is the cutest puppy ever!! But she doesn't really have the time to take care of him, he thrashed her house because she didn't get him a kennel, she doesn't ever really give him any attention. She doesn't give him loves, she basically feeds him and thats it. Well the other day she gave him away to one of her friends because she didn't want him anymore, do you think was a good idea? I know that she wasn't a responsible enough owner, but it breaks my heart because I loved her dog... she loved him too, she just didn't have the time for him. I guess my question is, is it worth it for her to give it another shot, or should she just leave her puppy with her friend?

That's a sad story my friend. If she doesn't have time to properly take care of the dog then she shouldn't have one. All dogs need exercise, proper training, and proper care. Unfortunately, this is part of the reason pit bulls have such a bad rap, the wrong kind of owners get them and don't take care of the properly. So many people think that they can get a dog and not do anything with them and they'll act properly, which obviously is not the case. I personally have two pits and I know that they are a lot of work, believe it or not they are very high energy Frisbee dogs and they need a ton of exercise to stay happy and healthy. (All dogs need exercise to avoid behavior problems no matter the breed.) They also need someone who is going to take the time to train them properly because any dog that is untrained is going to act like wild animal.
I think your friend should give the dog to someone who can properly care for him. She shouldn't have a pet if she is unable or unwilling to take the time to give them what they need.

The Puppies best intrest is by far the most important thing to consider. If the puppy is generaly happy with the new owner and is treated well i think it would be best for it to stay with its new owner.Even if your friend would take good care of the dog it would be the 2rd switch in its envirnment (from your friend to new owner then back again) and that is very stresful on a dog.

Sounds like she wasn't ready to put the effort into having a puppy. They are a lot of work and I guess she wasn't prepared. The dog shouldn't be with her if she didn't have the time for it

Sorry hun, but I can't agree with you on the part that she loved her dog since you said that she never paid any attention to him, or gave him love. People who love their dogs will go out of their way to make sure their pet is healthy and happy. They will spend lots of time with them playing with them, taking them on walks, and seeing to their health needs. People who love their pets wouldn't even think of giving it away to someone else. Hopefully the person she gave him to will be responsible and love and care for the dog.

I'm sorry to say it but, unless you want to take the pup in, then you'll just have to except that it's going to live with the friend. But pits can be a lot of work, and if you have kids then you never know if it might bite them..... sorry :*(

I think it's good that she realized she didn't have the time or inclination to be a good mommy to her puppy. I hope her friend gives the puppy more loving than she did.

Think about what's best for the puppy, not for you!

A puppy needs more than love and food. They need discipline they need rules they need to know what is expected of them. They also need their human to play with them and take them for lots of walks and exercise. It is obvious that your friend was incapable or unwilling to give the puppy all that he needed. Though you will miss him he is better off wit someone who can meet all his needs.

I think that it's best for the puppy that he/she is no longer under her care. Maybe now the pup will get all the attention and training he/she deserves :)

She obviously didnt want the pup and it was more that she could handle. Hopefully he's with a better owner.
