Bow down and worship him? nothing matters at all except that we worship and kiss his butt, and if we dont we burn in Hell, isnt that a selfish way of getting somebody to love you?

by the way, I do believe in God, just not the one I just described.

Actually, according to the bible, God did not make man to worship him. He actually created man to be his gardener.

Genesis 2:15
The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

All of the stuff Christians say about God creating humans to worship him is just silly crap they came up with on their own. God invented humans because he wanted someone to take care of his garden.

Humans tend to have over-inflated ideas about their own importance. Christians tend to be even worse than most other humans when it comes to their egos. They think God wants a "personal relationship" with them. God really just wants them to pull weeds and trim his shrubs.

They say that to get into heaven, people need to believe in Jesus. I suspect that who gets into heaven will probably depend more on how good you are with pruning shears.

Listen, don't believe in any other God except the only God. What does your God do? Sit there? Stare at you? Do you wish he would actually do something? Well, God wants us to worship Him because He loves us. GOD LOVES EVERYONE! No matter if they believe in Him or not, He still loves them. If you accept Him into your life, He will save you from Hell and you can live with Him forever in a place so beautiful and perfect! Why would you not want to believe in this??? Let me ask you this...would you rather worship the Lord, or BURN IN FIRE FOR AN ETERNITY IN ANGUISH??? YOU WILL HEAR SCREAMING, YOU WILL BE LAUGHED AT BY SATAN HIMSELF, YOU WILL BE TORMENTED, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ESCAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not selfish, it's love! He can save you!

Have you ever even read the Bible? Especially the new testament? Jesus doesn't ask us to bow down and scrape the ground. He doesn't ask us to inflate his ego. He doesn't ask us to spend all our day in prayer, praising his glory. He tells us how to live a moral life. He tells us what we need to do if we want eternal life in heaven. And, if you choose not to, that is your right through God. No one in heaven will force anything on you. It is up to you to accept or reject. If you don't want to believe, he will not force you to. If you do not want to live by his rules, you don't have to. Your ignorance in this matter is extreme. Try reading the new testament and then pose your question. However, I think you will have a very different question if you do this. God bless you and keep you from further ignorance.

GOD IS LOVE.

Not that we loved God, but that HE LOVED US FIRST and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. In this is TRUE LOVE.

LOVE OF GOD was manifested toward us, that God has sent HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON into the world, that we might live (eternally) through HIM. This is Love.

What we have given to GOD ????
But the son of God loved us (you and me) and gave HIMSELF for us. This is the ultimate love.

That is how many people interpret it. Others will tell you God only wants you to have faith in him and he will love you in return. Belief in any God is abandoning rationality. God neither makes sense or is necessary.

Selfish...hmm.

I havent thought of hanging on a cross in the heat of day with nails in your hands and feet, a crown of thorns on your head, and flesh ripped off your back all for the sake of saving mankind as selfish, but ok. Whatever you say! :)

And Hell isn't a punishment, it's a choice. If we reject God, then he has no choice but to let us live apart from Him. He doesn't want us to, and if he had another option he'd force us all to go to Heaven, but when we openly reject Him, then he has to send us to hell, because he gave us free will and he has to respect that.

God bless!

sounds like an insecure woman who has been hurt by many, so her only meaning to live is to think that her child will love her forever unconditionally.

I apologize ahead of time for this being so long. But I wanted to make sure that you could understand why worship to God is so important.

What is worship? Worship means “to give honor, homage, reverence, respect, adoration, praise, or glory to a superior being.” God demands worship because He and He alone is worthy of it. He is the only being that truly deserves worship. He requests that we acknowledge His greatness, His power and His glory. Revelation 4:11 tells us, “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” God created us, and He is a God who will not be usurped. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me” (Exodus 10:3-5). We must understand that God’s jealousy is not the sinful envy that we experience, born out of pride. It is a holy and righteous jealousy that cannot allow the glory due only to Him to be given to another.

God expects us to worship Him as an expression of reverence and thanksgiving to Him. But God wants even more than that. God also expects us to be obedient to Him. He wants not only for us to love Him; He wants us to act justly towards each other, to show love and compassion to others. In this way, we present ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him. This glorifies God and is our “reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). When we worship with an obedient heart and an open and repentant spirit, God is glorified, Christians are purified, the church is edified and the lost are evangelized. These are all the elements of true worship.

God also desires that we worship Him because our eternal destiny depends on our worship of the true and living God. Philippians 3:3 describes the true church, the body of believers in Jesus Christ whose eternal destiny is heaven. “For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.” In other words, the church is uniquely identified as God’s people, but not through physical circumcision. The church is made up of those who worship God in their spirit rejoicing in Christ, and not trusting in themselves for salvation. Those who do not worship the true and living God are none of His, and their eternal destiny is hell. But the true worshippers are identified by their worship of God, and their eternal home is with the God they worship and adore.

God demands, seeks and requests our worship because He deserves it, because it is the nature of a Christian to worship Him, and because our eternal destiny depends upon it. That is the theme of redemptive history: to worship the true, living and glorious God.
