i am asian, work and live in one of europe country. in 6 years i've been treated bad by most people in the city where i live. i work as customer relation and i won an award 2 years i a row for that. but ironically, most of my customer treated me so bad. i work in a restaurant. sometime they throw food at me or ketchup or pickel or even glass of coke and they laugh about it and if i ignore it then they start to call me f***ing chinese or f***ing refugee. in other time if my boss ask me to deal with some complaint then when they see me they refuse to talk to me and they ask to see someone white or someone who speak english? ah hello...i've worked in that country for 6 years and i am a manager now, do they really think that i'd be a manager if i don't speak english? i can't confront them, my hands are tight.
now i begin to hate people in that country. although not all of them are bad but all the bad experience i had made me feel this way.
so...am i a racist now?

How could you be racist?

You do not control their working condition, where they live or how they live. You do not support a system that can give you influence or privlige to control any part of their lifestyle or quality of life. You are powerless even to confront them to defend your position.

Do not fall into the trap of hate. It is not your arena or strong suite. Love yourself and learn from the experience. It is a steep ascent, but you can get more from demonstrating compassion and intellect than from hating. Hate will destroy you by removing the best part of your character. The immaturity of others though problematic is not your problem.

Study the behaviour and protect yourself from imitating it. Correct them for their bad manners as best you can. Dominant cultures often do not deserve the their position because of bad manners.

Lucky for them you are their teacher. Be the best.

I'm sorry about the way you were treated. But like you said it's not all the people in that country that are bad. You just encountered ignorant people. Your English writing is pretty good. Now do you think those people can speak Chinese at the same level you speak English? Ask them that next time they make fun of you.

No I don't think your racist but a lot of people are in the area where you live. Have you thought about moving? I don't mean you have to go back to your country just find a place where people are more liberal minded and there are a lot of asian immigrants. You will still run into some racists everywhere, but some places just have more than others.

Yes and no. I had a few very bad experiences with people who were Arabic and I had bad feelings about Arabs. But then I had some good experiences and I stopped having bad feelings. So now I know people who are Arab are not perfect, but many are my friends.

Right now you may think in racist ways, but I bet as soon as you have some more good experiences you will stop feeling that way.

No, you're not! It's human. Maybe I would do the same too. But, experience is the best teacher. It will teach you how to be a tough person and be more patient than before. Just do the best you can do for your life. Vini Vidi Vici !!! Go, bro !

You haven't actually written anything in your details that show that YOU are a racist. You haven't mentioned disliking any particular race. You just don't like people in that particular country. Move to Asheville, North Carolina in the U.S. We like Asians! And they like us.(generally speaking)

What country in Europe is this? You said they demand to speak to someone who speaks English? So are you living in England? Scotland? Ireland? Wales? Where?

Where it would be easy to hate an entire country based on your experience, to do so would be wrong.
Not liking someone because they are different is racism. Not liking someone because they are mean to you is anger. You are not a racist, and I feel for you.

I dont think that makes you a racist, its those being a racist to you that are making you hate them. It even makes you sound anti-racist. It would be nice if they were more kind to you, that way you wouldnt hate them right?

No. I dont think your racist. They are racist to you. If they make you feel so bad. Just ignore them. Its karma. You nicely ask them why are you so mean to me or something.
