Not all. It's looking more and more like there are people genetically predisposed to believing in a higher power that knows better than they do and those who aren't. And if the numbers mean anything it might mean the majority are predisposed to being led while the minority are not.

Lots of followers ready to believe someone else knows better and a few who are... "not followers". Why does this sound like a recipe for a village?

I don't quite know how to answer this, but I will try. If you mean religious as in looking up to a guidance, a "god" and mimicing his morals, then yes. We all grew up with role-models, could have been god or a musician. We all try and find someone to be like, so we can better ourselfs to their level.

In my opinion, that is what Theist religions are for. Believing in someone better than ourselves, so we can one day become at least a fragment of his/her glory.

We are all a bit religious in that sense, but not in the fact we pray to god, but in the fact we try and find a role-model.

We do all need God in our lives but many people reject Him and don't like to feel that they have any responsibility to their maker.
It's sad.

The Bible speaks about the pot criticising the potter.

Human nature has always wanted
to do its own thing, that's what freewill is all about.

People are given choices. They ignore God then complain that their life isn't happy and that the world is against them.

Nup! Well, maybe because people are too scared and too weak to go on their own. They need to create a higher being to depend on. Also, by creating this "higher being", they have also made themselves deities on earth. God was to create us humans in his form, and thus that makes us "humans" special from "animals" and thus justifying all our actions, just like how God's actions are justified.
