Is it their spirit, soul, aura, personality, presence, 'spirituality',....... I hear that we are all beautiful and my take would be it is the soul of a person that makes them lovely. I respectfully honor your opinions. Many blessings.

I always thought my grandfather (paternal) was one of the loveliest humans ever to encounter although I have many favorites on here. I have never seen Aum (one of our contributors) but I think the this person is lovely. All thoughts welcome.

I think there's physical beauty and "spiritual" beauty. A person can be physically beautiful and yet spiritually repulsive, or vice-versa; or both, or neither. I don't think everybody is beautiful, or there would be no standard of comparison and the word would be meaningless. But I DO think beauty is in the eye of the beholder; and in that sense, everybody is probably beautiful to somebody.

There are a lot of things that can make a person lovely... loving others, kindness, sincerity... but the one that came to my mind at first was gentleness. Not a whole lot of people really have that quality, but it sure is a good one to have.
You mentioned your grandfather, and what I remember more than anything about my own grandfather is that he was an incredibly gentle person. Strong and determined also, but very thoughtful and gentle.

From my perspective, it is the "light" within, shining forth from our true nature, connecting to that same energy in the recipient. It is like finding like and merging into oneness. That loveliness that you see is a resonance within one's self that is awakened by the mirror of the other reflecting back one's own essential self. How lovely to see loveliness (Love) and be struck into an enlivened state by that awesome sight. We certainly see this in the loveliness of a landscape that sings to us. Babies hold this mystery as well. Even a stranger can spark a momentary awakening to our own inner light when their light shines onto and into us. Wild Nature evokes this grand feeling of connection, bringing us to awareness of something both beyond and within ourselves. Light and Love and Loveliness are of the same bundle. And we are It. I think what makes a person truly lovely is when they see everything good about something,someone...loves unconditionally,gentle,has a warm-spirit,love for nature and have compassion for suffering of others and try to help them,always giving advice to people,kind,to animals even..but then again,even the most truly lovely person cannot please everyone..everyone's lovely in their own little ways but sometimes we forget that..

i agree with you...a person's heart, spirit, soul, or whatever you wish to call it, is what makes a person lovely.
