Baptists do not baptize newborns. In the Baptist faith you are baptized when you understand the concept of being baptized and understand what it means.
And no we do not believe you have to be baptized to get into heaven that is a common misconception. It is something we do to strengthen our relationship with Christ.

When a baby is born into the church they have a dedication where the parents stand up infront of the church and we all pray for that child to have a good life. Then we have cake, cookies, and punch in the lobby. lol

Most won't Baptize infants, but they will do a "Baby Dedication". This is actually more for the parents and the church congregation who promise to raise the child in the teachings of Christ and provide an upstanding moral example of how christian adults should behave.

Baptism in the Baptist Church on the other hand, is viewed as an act of obedience and personally affirms your own belief and acceptance of Christ as your personal savior. Because an infant does not have the judgment to make that kind of determination yet, baptism is generally reserved until the child is old enough to come to their own decision. Generally this is at about twelve, but many are older or a little younger too.

In some Baptist churches they hold a dedication service for the parents, who promise to love and nurture their little one.
Then the pastor prays that God will watch over the little one as they grow.

A child is only baptised after they publicly profess Jesus s Saviour and Lord. I was baptisted at age 8 - some wait until age 12.

all the best

The Baptist are part of Christianity. Believing that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of Humanity. They follow the Bible. Baptismal is usually done by submergence in water, or I have seen babies baptized with just a sprinkle. I think you would need to talk with the pastor of the Church to understand how the baptismal is going to be conducted and I also think that you may need to understand that as a christian parent, it is the responsibility of the parents to guide children's christian upbringing so its not really the baby's faith, but the parents (in essence.) Again, please talk with the pastor.

I may be wrong, but I believe Baptists practice adult baptism. A baby is not baptised, because it has not made the choice to enter the "Arms of God" in the form of joining the Church.

Baptist have you dedicate your baby to the Lord, that you will raise the baby in a Christian lifestyle and honor God's plan in how you raise the baby...

Speaking as a (Former) Southern Baptist, the concept of infant baptism is one of those differences twixt them and other denominations. They don't do it. Their stance on baptism being that the only baptism was when one became "born-again". (They're "dunkers", not "dribblers")

Baptist believe you have to be baptized to get into Heaven, however I don't think they necessarily have you do it at birth. It's up to the kid to decide when they are ready and have recieved Christ into their heart as Lord and Savior. If you baptize a child they have no idea what is taking place so it's better to wait until they understand what it means to have a relationship with God.
