Try a couple things:
highlight the word(s)
press backspace
if that doesn't work, right-click and "cut"
if that doesn't work, click Help, cl "Detect and Repair"
have your program's CD handy

I've done this a couple of times and it works well

If, by some chance, you meant "backspace" instead of "delete," I have your answer:

1. Click on the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the Edit tab.
3. Under Editing Options, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selection".
4. Click OK.

Hope that helps.

Another way to delete words is to highlight it, and then press backspace. Or just highlight it and press any letter to make that letter appear instead.
