My boyfriend and I have done that several times. We bring homemade deli sandwiches and 2 cans of soda.

Absolutely not! I think there should be some legal action to prevent theaters from outrageously over-charging for their snacks! It's ridiculous when you have to pay almost twice as much for snacks as you do for the movie tickets! The ones I've been to always put so much salt in the popcorn that I can't eat it, and the same goes for their nachos. $4.00 for a bottle of water that I can get for 99 cents at the store is a major ripoff as well.

Maybe if we all did a nationwide boycott of the theaters for one month (standing outside with pickett signs) protesting the price of their snacks, they'd lose so much business they'll gladly lower their snack prices; wouldn't that be great?!!

Why pay all that money for a movie when we'll be able to buy the DVD in a few months anyway, and can watch it all we want (or even rent it for less)!

Nope, I think it is the best thing to do. The movie already costs a fortune, and the way to keep money in your pocket and to save, and actually have a good time is to bring your own food. Me personally? I can do without food in a movie theater. I don't understand where the concept came from that you HAVE to have something to eat while watching a movie. I don't want the extra butter from the popcorn because I am inactive, and the extra calories will just go to my hips. But if you want to eat, then yes, I think its very economical to bring your own food.

It's not really allowed at the movie theatre, but I have done this many times. I don't think it is tacky. Movies are so expensive these days, as are the snacks at the movies, that sometimes people just cannot afford to pay for popcorn, etc. I have three kids and it would be so expensive if we did not do some creative sharing.

It's not tacky, but it's also not allowed. I have no objection to people sneaking a snack, but if you're bringing something smelly (even if it smells delicious) that is rude to the other patrons. I'm on a very restrictive diet and I do sneak. But I've never seen a theater offer any of the foods that I'm allowed to eat.

I don't consider it tacky by any stretch, I always bring my own m&m's and soda, but sometimes buy the popcorn because it smells so good! Considering most movies are available on DVD so quickly, the huge theatre companies should be grateful we buy their tickets in the forst place!

PS. If I go to a locally owned theatre, I tend to buy more to keep them in business!

Movie theaters do not allow people to bring food inside. If they see that you are bringing food or drinks with you they will tell you you cannot do that. As far as I am concerned it is not tacky.

the movie theater people claim that they charge so much for the food to make a profit, as they dont make much off the movie, as it is very expensive to use.
Personally, I dont buy this. I think its fine to bring your own food. I've snuck in a bottle of wine before, (many years ago). lol

I know the theaters don't like it, but at the cost of tickets, few can afford an extra twenty bucks for snacks. I mean, for that money I can eat out at a nice sit down restaurant. Just don't get caught.

Not at all! You save alot of money and the food you bring it probably more tasteful and better for you! Of course, I would keep it in your purse because many theaters don't allow outside food or drink.
