You mean after two world wars, why would the allies allow Germany to have an army??

There were only two world wars involving Germany (we are in WWIII now against Islam, although we're too politically correct to say so)

Germany was the Axis.

Other than that, Germany today is a different country than it was before WWI and WWII.

In WWI, it was a monarchy, and the population had little say on whther it went to war or not. The bulk of the population wass till smarting from the defeat in the Alsace in 1878, and wanted payback. The culture was little different from that of the Napoleonic era, when military service was lauded and respected.

In WWII, the country was recovering from the punitive measures of the treaty of versailles, and had had democracy thrust upon them. They were mentally and culturally unprepared for democracy, and the result was fascism, and Hitlers rise of popularity.

After WWII, the population was war-weary, and spent 50 years rebuilding, all the while knowing that if WWIII broke out, Germany would be the battlefield. The whole culture grew up with a revulsion of all things military, and a deep-seated cultural shame for the crimes of WWII.

Germany's armed forces is mostly that of West Germany before reunification. West Germany was -- and is -- a staunch ally of America through NATO, and formed a vital part of the forces that faced the Soviets across the iron curtain. Germany's economy is fully integrated with the rest of Europe through the EU. Germany would no more declare war on a neighbor than Oklahoma would declare ware on Kansas. There is simply no reason.

Really!!

The question poster makes a very ignorant mistake with:

"why does the Axis allow Germany to have it's own Armed Forces?"

He obviously does not understand that the Axis were the countries in partnership with the III German Reich in WW2.

Now the Allies were the countries who fought against and defeated the III German Reich.

I don't think England have won any World Cups in the recent years since 1966, so its hardly a world record achievement! are they even in the next world cup??

So his attempt to be a troll reflect the current educational standards or lack of under a labour government.

Failure!!!!

after the second world war, Germany was split into 4 states being controlled by the soviets, U.S., france, and britain. Basically these 4 countries ran Germany and rebuilt the government. (this was the result of the Potsdam conference). With the allies essentially running the country, they completely dismantled Germany's military complex, and then it was rebuilt over a period of years with the allies overseeing it. They essentially started over as a country, so as they were rebuilt they were at the mercy of the allies and thus were always under our thumbs. They are not nearly, nor ever will be, at the levels prior to WWII, but have a respectable force designed for defense.

WWI occurred in the nineteen-teens. Was triggered when some stuffed shirt was assassinated and someone made some military moves. It's called a web of alliances. MOST of the countries that were involved in WWI did NOT want to go to war, but in an age of Honour, had no choice but to march in to assist their allies.

WWII occurred when a madman managed to stir the stung pride of a crippled nation and re-militarised Germany, despite the treaties she'd signed with the other "Great Powers" at the end of WWI. Had the "victors" of WWI stepped-in earlier and refused Germany's assinine demands, WWII would have either started earlier and ended alot faster when the "West" stepped on Hitler's proverbial neck, or started in the mid to late 40's after he'd had the chance to rebuild Germany the slow way, but with Hitler still alive, it WOULD have happened! (From what I've been told by those who've slogged through it - and weren't certifiable fruitcakes in their own bigoted right - "Mein Kampf" was a downright terrifying priece of literature!)

So...where was the third World War you're talking about?

Oh, and incidentally...why shouldn't Germany have an Armed Service? They had a long, distinguished, and honourable tradition of military excellence for centuries before Hitler, and for over 50 years since.

You might want to actually do some research into actual history before posting silly questions like this. Incidentally, during WWII, Germany, Italy, and Japan were the "Axis" against which the "Allies" fought!

Using the same type of Logic, you'd have to insist that Spain didn't deserve a Military because of their Civil War and the abuses that the Spanish were famous for (corruption) from the 15th century on....You'd have to insist that the US be stripped of it's military because of their covert attacks on any number of foriegn countries without benefit of a declaration of war, and the outright criminal invasion of Iraq in 2004(?)...the Russians because of Eastern Europe in the 50's and Afghanistan in the 80's... Heck, in one way or another, your logic would put every Nation on the entire planet without a Military Force at all!

'Aint gonna happen anytime soon, Why? Because most countries also use their armed forces as Emergency Manpower if something needs to be done quickly! (i.e.: Responding to situations of disaster, natural or man-made!)

hellooo!!!!!! we dont live in the 60s anymore so wake up!

lol the Axis was Germany,Italy and Japan.

Germany was allowed to build up an army to defend itself and to help out in emergencies (floods etc). the Brits and Americans had and still have bases in Germany to keep an eye on them. but most of them are moving out now because there is no need for them to be there anymore. god stop living in the past and move on!

and i really dont know why Brits still bring up footie in 1966. in the end Germany had the title more often than England...

Germany was the Axis. This is a new Germany. They are now close allies with the Allies.

After 2 World Wars, I think they have learned their lesson. Besides, we are allies now, and we have our Army over there to keep an eye on them.

Who are the Axis? When did the 3rd war happen? Who gave you authority to impose the 2 strikes and you're out rule?
