if you don't want muscle don't use weights, I would go into the gym and do at leats 15min of abs, situps, on the ball, leglifts, anything you want/can think of, there's lots of ideas on the internet for this. Make sure you get your heartrate up and you should def. be sweating when you're done. Then hit the treadmill/pool and work as hard as you can as long as you can, you don't start burning fat for 20min. after you start working out, so the longer the better. I don't know what your fitness level is like, but I run 5mi with an average speed of 7.2 mph (takes around 40min.) and I'm pretty happy with that. If you can take it go every day and spend an hour in the pool instead of the run every other day, constant swimming works but you can look up workouts on the internet too. Swimming will give you a very defined body without much muscle gain, and is the best work/benefit way to burn calories

Diet is the most important part, take in no less than 1500 good calories per day (yes, that's quite a bit of food if it's done right) and work as hard as you can at the gym

Your best bet is to do a combination of resistance training and cardio.
