I've got a nine month old Mini Schnauzer and sometimes she smells sort of like...iron and that smell stayed in my leather sofa. She also farts around once per day...I want to know what the causes for the smell and the farting are, and if there is anyway I can stop them?

She may have some kind of digestional problem. I would talk to your vet about it. Some places sell a doggy breath mint that might also help with the farting.

Its the food. Look into feeding Wellness, Solid Gold, Prairie, or find a good holistic food. No corn and wheat gluten based foods. The dog may still have gas though. Think about when you eat healthy

Check with your Vet. While there may be several reasons for the gas.....the food you feed is most likely the culprit.

The scent of iron would concern me more. Take a stool specimen into your Vet for testing for parasites. Tell your Vet about smelling iron on your dog.

If she has fleas she would smell like iron, because that is what flea droppings smell like--flea droppings being dried blood, blood containing iron...

i would suggest taking your dog to the vet.. just to see why she is smelling like iron. and gas is natural when the dog eats something it shouldnt have. maybe change the diet.

Maybe she needs a bath and check her diet. What is she eating. Maybe the diet is not agreeing with her.

It might be the food you are feeding her.
