"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn."-- Alvin Toffler
"The struggle of the mind to keep itself free from every sort of bondage -- to remain curious, open, unsatiated in all its relations with nature -- is tenfold more difficult than the cultivation of a stable, satisfying point of view, but a thousandfold more precious."-- Gardner Murphy
"Remain open. There is something bigger than you know going on here."-- Iyanla VanZant

lives7, this question is valid.. I'm sorry you don't seem to understand its context. They speak under their own "authority" as they have a right to their ideas. Is your answer a valid answer?

1st: Yes I kind of agree. I work with kids and where education is going is a nightmare. Not only can many kids not read and write, they can not apply anything they learn. This is due greatly to cramming useless info down kids throats and making them vomit it back out verbatim for testing, yet not have to apply any of it.
2nd: Yes conforming to one thought is easier. It means the work is done and no more explanation is needed. I find this boring myself...but some people enjoy the security of "knowing what they know".
3rd:I think so. It may not be a god in heaven but I think there is something bigger out there. I can not put into words what exactly that is. It isn't a belief in god at all...hmm maybe it is just a belief in potential.

They're all very well stated and especially relevant now.
How I read them.
1st:
People need to be able to adapt as new things present themselves, I think it is silly to think in unchangeable absolutes when the one thing history has shown us is that we are frequently wrong.
2nd:
Very interesting quote, it is nigh impossible to have no mental bondage at all, because this mental bondage is also part of learning, My mind is bonded to the idea that if I fall from a tree it could hurt because I have experienced it, my mind is bonded to the fact If I touch a hob or reach into flames it will burn. Yet he is focused more on curiosity and curiosity is one of the greatest things we have, the pleasure to be taken in discovery and the gain to be made. We should be looking for things not stating what we know.
I am a Pandeist(Closest definition available) The 3rd quote does not really need commenting on from that perspective.

If Jesus Christ could be the creator of the world, and be born and pass through mortality, then why would it be strange that Heavenly Father did not also? The alternative that God was alone in the universe until 6,000 years ago, is what needs to be explained.

We should print those words on beautiful banners and drape them over museums, libraries and schools, as well as every governmental building (both state and federal) in every country of the world.

Nice. However, by whose Authority do they write?
Sounds silly, but is this question valid?
Whose Authority. It speaks of motive, reason, and truth.
Edit: My answer is valid and to the point of the quotes. Curious, open, unsatiated in ALL its relations...Remain open to questions, for something bigger is going on here...illiterates are those who cannot ask, cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.
But then learning begins with the question? Thus my answer.
God Bless. The First Cause of All Action.

I think they all make a point. Openmindedness is golden in these times.
I don't think VanZant was poetic though.

Anyone that condemns learning, shuns educating themselves, or closes his/her mind is obtuse and mentally as well as morally lazy. However, I still stand by my faith and beliefs, as you dear one stand by yours.
