U.S.Airways or any other airline's loss or missplaced baggage percentage to the number of pieces handled presents no major problem. The unfortunate part of the senerio is the one who has had the problem is the most vocal. In the great number of times we have traveled our luggage arrived late twice; Once when we just about made our plane and the luggage came on a later flight and another when we had to change planes and the luggage was aboard the first aircraft. That, too, came on a later flight but was brought to the resort hotel where we were staying.

Probably no better or worse that any airline. I have flown them several times with no problem. I have flown American probably 200 times and have baggage lost, I think, 10 times. But they always found it within 10 hours and delivered it to me.
The only airline that I refuse to fly, regardless of cost, is British Airlines. I have flown them 18 times and they lost my luggage 7 times. They never did find it 3 times. That and, as I recall, 12 of the connecting flights were late forcing me to stay over night in various airports until the next day.
U.S. Airways isn't bad.
Never, I repeat never, fly BA

They lost my bag flying from Boston to LAX about a month ago. They mailed it to me a couple days later, though. I could definitely happen.
