22 pounds to make a lethal dose does not make it poisonous. Oxygen kills people; not only slowly over many years, but pure oxygen can kill immediately. It still is not poisonous. And how long a time period is required to eat that 22 pounds to be a lethal dose?

This may be the single most inane statistic I've ever read. No-one in their right mind will ingest 22 lbs. of chocolate. And even if someone with a huge appetite and stomach could do so, that person would probably not die of it. They may heave it all up, however. And even if it is true, then 22 lbs of anything else is probably fatal as well. How can 22 lbs fit in a person's stomach, I ask you?

Only if you're a dog.

Added: and even if it were true, they would not set it at 22 pounds for everyone, it would depend on body weight. You can't be saying a 97 pound woman and a 200 pound male would both drop dead from 22 pounds of chocolate?

I ate so much chocolate once my lips got numb. Chocolate contains theobromine, (food of the gods), a chemical that has a direct effect on respiratory passages. A chocolate bar has much too low a dose of this chemical to affect breathing, but I can see there being a lethal dose.

who could eat 22 pounds at a time anyway? You probably couldn't eat 1 pound before you got an upset stomach. It is poisonous for dogs at any level.

well i can only say that it is quite possible, it is a fact that there is a chemical existing in the cocoa, that after eating so much of it, a headache can be stimulated from it. so to just imagine trying to consume even close to to 22 pounds, that sounds like a headache that could linger for at least a month.

Not to me but I don't find it healthy to eat 22 pounds of chocolate but I do agree that it's not really good for you(except for dark).

Eating or drinking too much of anything is deadly. Even water. Chocolate isn't poisonous, nor is water. It's the amount that's deadly. A woman was in a water drinking contest and died from drinking too much. It caused her brain to swell, stopping it regulating vital functions such as breathing, and causing death.
